McAfee named a ‘Leader’ in Magic Quadrant for IDPS
Tue, 16th Jan 2018
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Global cyber security organisation McAfee has been named a Leader in the “Gartner Magic Quadrant for Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems” (IDPS) for the 11th time.

The inclusion of the company in the Leader category is based on Gartner's criteria, which primarily includes completeness of vision and ability to execute.

McAfee says its inclusion in the list is based on its Network Security Platform (NSP), which is a network threat and intrusion prevention solution that protects systems and data wherever they reside across data center, cloud, and hybrid enterprise environments.

The NSP Utilises multiple signature-less detection technologies in order to find and blocks advanced targeted attacks on the network with unmatched speed, accuracy, and simplicity.

McAfee vice president and general manager of corporate products Raja Patel says he is thrilled with this company's continued inclusion in the category.

“We are proud to be one of three companies recognised by Gartner as a Leader in the 2018 Magic Quadrant for Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems and, to us, more largely, our exceptional performance in enabling effective cybersecurity operations.

“Our continued presence in this Gartner report and leadership in areas such as threat intelligence context and heuristic techniques that lessen reliance on signatures, are among the many reasons we feel we continue to lead in this category.

The announcement comes amid a series of developments at McAfee last week, including the company's partnership with D-Link on a router with built-in endpoint security, as well as the completion of it's SkyHigh networks acquisition.

The latter announcement saw Skyhigh Networks officially become part of the McAfee Cloud Security Business Unit.

On the conclusion of this acquisition last week, McAfee chief executive officer Chris Young said, “This announcement marks a new milestone for the future of our company.

“We are focused on securing customers from their devices to the cloud, giving customers access to market-leading capabilities in the architectural control points that matter most.
