Cohesity named leader in IDC cyber recovery vendor report 2025

Fri, 10th Oct 2025

Cohesity has been named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Cyber Recovery 2025 Vendor Assessment for the second time.

The IDC MarketScape report assesses vendors based on a rigorous methodology that covers both quantitative and qualitative criteria, providing an evaluation of vendor offerings, capabilities, strategies, and potential market success. The 2025 assessment evaluated a total of eleven vendors operating in the cyber recovery sector worldwide.

Organisations are facing increased risks as modern cyberattacks evolve to target not just operations, but also the systems required to respond and recover after an incident. In response to these challenges, cyber recovery and resilience capabilities have become a central focus for many Corporate Information Technology and Security teams.

IDC MarketScape overview

"As cyberattacks escalate in scale and sophistication, resilience has become a top priority for organisations everywhere. At the same time, wide differences in solution architectures and capabilities make it challenging for IT and security teams to determine which vendors can best support their business," said Johnny Yu, Research Manager, IDC. "This essential IDC MarketScape report provides an objective view of the cyber recovery market, helping decision-makers cut through the complexity and align investments with the solutions best suited to their unique requirements."

The IDC MarketScape cited several strengths in Cohesity's platform. The report stated, "Cohesity is especially compelling for buyers who highly value a robust security ecosystem and require collaborative response capabilities that bridge IT, security, and external partners." Cohesity also received recognition for its capabilities in "AI-assisted recovery orchestration," "advanced threat and anomaly detection," "cyber vaulting and data immutability," and an "extensive data security ecosystem."

The IDC MarketScape assessment framework is widely used in the industry to help technology buyers compare the strengths and weaknesses of current and prospective solution providers. It uses both quantitative and qualitative research methods to give a 360-degree evaluation of each supplier.

Cohesity's response

"We believe Cohesity's recognition as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape for Worldwide Cyber Recovery underscores our laser focus on helping customers increase resilience, recover rapidly, and lower total cost of ownership," said Sanjay Poonen, Chief Executive Officer and President, Cohesity. "With our differentiated platform focused on the 5Ss - Speed, Scale, Security, Smarts and Simplicity - and a fully integrated portfolio that delivers flexible licensing and purchasing options, Cohesity is empowering organizations to build their resilience muscles across any environment with confidence."

Cohesity's platform has been adopted by customers across more than 140 countries. The company's portfolio intends to help organisations build resilience, accelerate IT recovery, and reduce costs. In the context of growing cyber threats, IT departments and security teams continue to look for solutions that offer both preventative measures and rapid recovery in the event of an incident. Key features such as AI-assisted recovery orchestration and advanced anomaly detection are viewed by the IDC MarketScape as important aspects that set certain vendors apart, particularly where integrated response across IT and security teams-and in some cases, with external partners-is required.

Industry evaluation standards

The IDC MarketScape evaluation is used internationally as a standard for vendor assessment. It emphasises both the present offering and future strategy of technology and service suppliers. The framework is designed as a decision-making tool for technology buyers, assisting them in identifying the best fit for their requirements amid market complexity and varied vendor solutions.

This latest recognition for Cohesity follows the company's previous appearance as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape for Cyber Recovery, reflecting consistency in its evaluation by industry analysts.
