Yubico unveils YubiNation Partners identity channel push

Wed, 25th Feb 2026

Yubico has launched a revamped global channel partner programme, YubiNation Partners. It features a tiered structure and expanded training for security consultancies, resellers and services firms focused on identity security.

The programme arrives as organisations face higher breach costs and continued reliance on passwords. IBM's Cost of a Data Breach Report 2025 put the average cost of a corporate security breach at USD $4.4 million, while phishing remains a common starting point for attackers.

Yubico sells YubiKey hardware security keys and related authentication products. It positions its approach around phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication and passwordless sign-in using passkeys.

A Forrester Consulting Total Economic Impact study commissioned by Yubico assessed the impact of replacing traditional multi-factor authentication and one-time passwords with YubiKeys. The study reported a 265% return on investment and a 99.99% reduction in an organisation's risk exposure to breach costs from addressable attacks, based on the study's assumptions and modelling.

Partner tiers

YubiNation Partners has four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Each tier offers different benefits tied to technical skills, investment and collaboration, according to Yubico.

Bronze focuses on onboarding and training through Yubico Academy and working through authorised distributors. Silver adds lead sharing and co-sell support for opportunities involving 200 users or more.

Gold includes priority access to Market Development Funds and a dedicated go-to-market team. Gold partners also receive a not-for-resale allocation of up to 25 YubiKeys per quarter for internal readiness and testing.

Platinum includes what Yubico described as its strongest deal incentives and services leads. Platinum partners get direct access to Market Development Funds, invitations to strategic events and business planning sessions, and a not-for-resale allocation of up to 50 keys per quarter.

"With YubiNation Partners, Yubico is embracing a partner-first strategy, moving beyond traditional resale to build a dedicated community of security experts who are shaping the future of digital identity," said Bettina Vahl, vice president of global channels at Yubico.

Training focus

A central element of the programme is Yubico Academy, the company's training and certification platform. Over the past year, Yubico expanded the academy's curriculum across multiple roles, including entry-level content and tracks geared towards sales and technical sales.

The academy now includes 100-series Essentials, 200-series Sales and 300-series Technical Sales. Yubico has also tested a 400-series certification focused on professional services.

After partner feedback, Yubico is making the 400-series available to Gold and Platinum partners. It expects the professional services curriculum to align partner delivery teams around deployments and customer engagements where authentication changes require integration and operational planning.

"The feedback from both my colleagues and I regarding the new Professional Services certifications has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly concerning the specialised vendor modules," said Felix Brand, CISSP and cybersecurity architect at SVA. "This structured approach provided a highly targeted experience that directly aligns with the unique needs and strengths of each individual consulting partner."

Market context

Yubico's update comes as vendors push partner ecosystems to cover a broader range of delivery work. Channel partners increasingly mix resale with advisory services, implementation and ongoing support, particularly in identity and access management, where organisations face regulatory pressure and accelerating adoption of AI tools.

AI-driven threats were part of the rationale for the programme, according to Yubico. Attackers use generative AI to create more convincing phishing messages and target victims faster. Security teams have also reported a rise in identity-based attacks, where adversaries obtain credentials rather than exploit software vulnerabilities.

Yubico said more than 30% of the Fortune 500 and 18 of the top 20 AI companies use YubiKeys. It is using that customer base as a reference point in discussions with partners that sell to regulated industries and large enterprises.

Channel firms can now take on multiple roles within the same ecosystem, including advising, building services around deployments and reselling products. Yubico said the programme includes enablement and campaign kits, alongside tier-based benefits designed to match partner size and engagement.

"We see Yubico's updated channel program as a strong step forward in supporting strategic partners like Zones. The investments in enablement, tiering, and services alignment position us to drive greater impact together in the identity security market," said Jake Pederson, director of software, cloud and security alliances at Zones. "By elevating partner certifications and Professional Services integration, the program empowers Zones to differentiate through technical expertise and end-to-end delivery excellence at global scale."

Existing partners will be placed into one of the four tiers based on factors including revenue growth and completed Yubico Academy certifications. New partners can apply through Yubico and its distributors.
