Trend Micro unveils AI security suite to tackle growing cyber risks

Fri, 28th Nov 2025

Trend Micro is preparing to launch a new suite of security capabilities designed to help organisations manage risks posed by artificial intelligence applications. The Trend Vision One AI Security Package aims to provide centralised exposure management and analytics across the full AI application lifecycle.

AI risks identified

Organisations are adopting AI technologies rapidly, but many lack tools to monitor how AI systems process information, make decisions, or could be targeted by cyber attackers. Existing security tools, such as those protecting endpoints, networks, and cloud resources, were not developed to address vulnerabilities unique to AI, such as prompt injection or data poisoning.

The new package seeks to close these gaps by supporting protection from early model development through to production use. This extended coverage is intended to provide organisations with improved oversight as AI becomes increasingly integrated into business processes.

Technical features

The AI Security Package includes AI Application Security, which is supported by an AI Scanner capable of continuously monitoring models for vulnerabilities and deploying automated guardrails to minimise risk. The solution forms a "closed-loop" system designed to detect, assess, and respond to threats specific to AI applications.

The company is also introducing new features across its existing portfolio, such as agentless vulnerability scanning for multi-cloud environments, additional support for Kubernetes, and real-time malware detection in cloud storage systems. These enhancements are aimed at reducing manual overhead and ensuring consistent policy enforcement during software development and deployment.

Industry concerns

Despite expanding recognition of AI-related risks, a World Economic Forum report found that only 37% of organisations screen AI systems for security before deployment. The same report highlights that the average data breach now costs organisations more than USD $4.4 million.

Security specialists have stressed the importance of comprehensive governance and continuous oversight as companies implement AI-based solutions across their operations.

"Innovation without oversight is a risk businesses cannot afford. Our goal is to provide the foundation for AI safety and guardrails to align AI transformation with security and trust. By building with these principles from the start, organisations can move forward with confidence as AI becomes central to their growth," said Mick McCluney, ANZ Field CTO, Trend Micro.

Integrated management

The package is equipped with an AI Security Blueprint and Risk Insights dashboard to visualise risk posture and guide compliance efforts throughout the AI development pipeline. Real-time monitoring, threat alerts and full-stack risk visibility are provided to enhance collaboration between development and security teams.

Other updates include a Kubernetes-based cloud architecture for scalable file security operations, and integration with native log sources for improved incident detection and response capabilities. Zero trust security features are also extended to generative AI tools, allowing administrators granular control over employee access and potential data leakage.

Sector commentary

Industry analysts have underlined the necessity for protective frameworks that span the entire AI application lifecycle.

"As organisations race to gain advantage through the use of AI throughout their operating environment, most face significant risks across the many facets of AI security and governance," said Dave Gruber, Principal Analyst, Omdia, "mitigating these risks requires comprehensive visibility and governance throughout model and application development, deployment, and utilisation."
