Thrive appoints Joe Mercurio as Chief Revenue Officer

Thrive has appointed Joe Mercurio as Chief Revenue Officer, adding a former ConnectWise executive to its senior leadership team.
Mercurio will oversee Thrive's global revenue strategy, including sales, customer success, channel partnerships and go-to-market efforts, as the company expands internationally. The appointment comes as Thrive broadens its services in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and cloud computing while integrating acquisitions.
Mercurio brings more than two decades of enterprise technology experience. Before joining Thrive, he served as Chief Revenue Officer at ConnectWise, where he led the company's global revenue organisation.
Earlier in his career, he held senior sales and channel roles at Mimecast, Dell, EMC and RSA Security. At Mimecast, he was Senior Vice President of Sales and Channel.
The hire reflects continued competition among managed services and security providers for larger customer relationships and broader sales channels. Companies in the sector have been expanding beyond traditional IT support into cloud, security and advisory work as clients look to consolidate suppliers.
Thrive describes itself as a global technology outsourcing provider serving small and mid-market organisations. Its business spans AI, cybersecurity, cloud, compliance and managed IT services.
Chief Executive Officer Bill McLaughlin linked the appointment to the company's broader expansion plans.
"We've built Thrive by focusing on expertise, customer outcomes, and long-term value creation," said Bill McLaughlin, Chief Executive Officer, Thrive. "As we continue expanding our capabilities and helping customers navigate increasingly complex technology environments, Joe's experience building high-performing revenue organizations will be instrumental. He understands how to scale growth while maintaining the customer focus and operational excellence that have defined Thrive from the beginning."
Mercurio joins as service providers sharpen sales strategies around customer retention as well as new business. Thrive's description of the role places customer success and partner relationships alongside direct sales, indicating a broad commercial brief.
Growth focus
The appointment also points to a focus on aligning recently added services and acquired operations under a single revenue strategy. Managed service providers that expand through acquisitions often face the challenge of combining sales teams, partner programmes and customer support structures across regions.
Thrive has been building a portfolio for organisations seeking external support for technology operations and cyber risk management. That market has seen sustained demand from businesses dealing with more complex IT estates and security requirements.
Mercurio said the market was shifting toward providers that could offer a broader relationship.
"Organisations today need more than a service provider. They need a trusted strategic partner that can help them manage risk, modernize operations, and take advantage of emerging technologies," said Joe Mercurio, Chief Revenue Officer, Thrive. "Thrive has established itself as that partner for customers across industries by combining deep technical expertise with a relentless focus on business outcomes. I look forward to building on that momentum and helping more organizations realize the value of Thrive's approach."
Thrive operates in a crowded market of managed service providers, cyber specialists and cloud consultancies, many of which are trying to cross-sell a wider range of services to existing clients. Senior revenue appointments have become a common way for such companies to tighten commercial execution as they scale.
Mercurio's background in both direct sales and channel management may prove useful as Thrive develops partner relationships alongside its own customer base. His previous role at ConnectWise and earlier work at Mimecast exposed him to partner-led sales models widely used across the technology services sector.
Mercurio will lead sales, customer success, channel partnerships and go-to-market initiatives across Thrive's global business.
