Tenable enhances cloud security with DSPM & AI-SPM

Wed, 16th Oct 2024

Tenable has announced new features for its cloud security solution, Tenable Cloud Security, which focus on data security posture management (DSPM) and artificial intelligence security posture management (AI-SPM).

As cloud environments continue to grow in complexity, the risks associated with managing cloud security have increased. Issues such as misconfigurations, risky entitlements, and vulnerabilities contribute to these security gaps, particularly affecting sensitive data and AI resources. According to Tenable Research, 38% of organisations encounter a so-called toxic cloud triad, involving cloud workloads that are publicly exposed, critically vulnerable, and excessively privileged.

Tenable Cloud Security is designed to address these risks by integrating DSPM and AI-SPM capabilities, offering the ability to automatically discover, classify, and analyse sensitive data risks through flexible, agentless scanning. Its user interface aims to simplify the process for security leaders in identifying and managing cloud and AI data threats.

Vice President of Product Management for Tenable Cloud Security, Liat Hayun, remarked, "Data is constantly on the move and new uses for data in today's AI-driven world have created new risks. DSPM and AI-SPM capabilities from Tenable Cloud Security bring context into complex risk relationships, so teams can prioritise threats based on the data involved. This gives customers the confidence to unlock the full potential of their data without compromising security."

Further insights were shared by Philip Bues, Senior Research Manager, Cloud Security at IDC. He commented, "The importance of cloud data has made communicating data exposure risk one of the biggest security challenges for CISOs. Tenable is at the forefront of this emerging DSPM-CNAPP conversation, enabling customers to contextualise and prioritise data risk and communicate it, which is pertinent to almost every domain in CNAPP."

The AI-SPM features of Tenable Cloud Security assist customers in progressing with AI adoption by enforcing configuration best practices and securing training data. Combined with cloud infrastructure entitlement management (CIEM) and Cloud Workload Protection (CWP) capabilities, these new functions aim to manage AI entitlements, reduce risks to AI resources, and maintain the integrity of critical AI and machine learning training data.

These new features are available to customers of both Tenable Cloud Security and Tenable One, providing users with key benefits such as comprehensive visibility over cloud and AI data, effective risk prioritisation and remediation, and proactive identification of cloud and AI data exposure. By continuously monitoring multi-cloud environments, assigning sensitivity levels, and offering context-driven analytics, the solution is designed to guide security teams in addressing cloud security challenges.

Overall, Tenable Cloud Security's new capabilities align with the exposure management company's mission to assist its customers worldwide in identifying and resolving high-priority threats effectively.
