SquareX has announced the appointment of John Carse as its new Field Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

As Field CISO, John Carse will serve as a strategic security advisor to SquareX's enterprise customers, assisting them in bolstering their browser security measures and translating intricate technical concepts into business value for executive stakeholders. He is positioned to bridge the gap between SquareX's browser detection and response solutions and the evolving needs of its global clientele.

John Carse boasts a career in cybersecurity that spans over two decades, having established robust security frameworks across multiple geographies and industries, including the US military, finance, and technology sectors. His leadership in global security includes involvement with renowned brands such as Dyson, Rakuten, and Expedia. Most notably, he was the CISO at Dyson, where he was awarded the title of Cybersecurity Defender of 2023 for the Asia Pacific region. Before this, as CISO for Rakuten Mobile and Rakuten Symphony, Carse was instrumental in the IT engineering and operations of the world's first fully virtualized Open RAN mobile network.

Vivek Ramachandran, Founder and CEO of SquareX, commented, "John's extensive background in cybersecurity and his proven ability to navigate complex security challenges make him an invaluable addition to our leadership team. We are confident that his insights will further strengthen our commitment to providing top-tier security solutions for our clients."

In his new capacity, John will be responsible for providing strategic security guidance, conducting security assessments, and helping clients develop in-depth browser security roadmaps. Part of his role includes sharing industry best practices and threat intelligence and aiding customers in meeting regulatory compliance. Furthermore, Carse will relay valuable feedback to SquareX's product teams, ensuring a continuous alignment between the company's product development and market needs.

Sharing his enthusiasm for his new role, John Carse asserted, "I am excited to join this forward-thinking cybersecurity startup as Field CISO and am fully confident in our ability to address the most pressing security challenges present in today's most used application – the browser. Vivek has built a great team that is addressing the challenge head-on. I am eager to help organizations strengthen their defenses and achieve resilience in an ever-evolving threat landscape."

SquareX continues to prioritise staying ahead of browser-based threats with its proactive and adaptive security strategy. The addition of John Carse to the team reinforces the company's dedication to offering top-tier cybersecurity solutions for client-side web-attacks on a global scale.
