Proofpoint named leader in 2025 Gartner DCG Magic Quadrant
Proofpoint has been recognised as a leader for the second consecutive year in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Communications Governance (DCG) and archiving solutions.
The 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant evaluated 14 vendors within the sector of DCG and archiving solutions, distinguishing Proofpoint for both its completeness of vision and its ability to execute.
According to Proofpoint, its placement within the Magic Quadrant reflects ongoing momentum in the digital communications compliance and risk management sector. The company has developed offerings around real-time communications intelligence and proactive compliance architecture built for emerging technology environments.
Evaluation highlights
In Gartner's October 2025 report, Proofpoint was recognised specifically as a leader due to the strength of its offering and its execution capability within the market. These criteria typically include product performance, customer experience feedback, and product innovation.
"We believe our consecutive recognition as a Leader in this year's Magic Quadrants underscores our continued leadership, strength of our vision and relentless pace of innovation," said Harry Labana, Senior Vice President and General Manager, DCG Business Unit at Proofpoint. "With our next-generation Digital Communications Governance platform and the industry's first agentic AI solution for Human Communications Intelligence, we're capturing real-time communications intelligence and redefining how organisations manage risk and move away from reactive compliance to proactive, intelligence-led governance that's built for the AI era."
The Magic Quadrant method is used by Gartner to provide a graphical competitive positioning of technology providers in high-growth markets. Leadership positioning is based on combinations of vision, innovation and demonstrated ability to deliver results.
Product features
Proofpoint's DCG platform aims to provide an integrated solution combining compliance, supervision and risk management in regulated and high-compliance sectors. The offering is powered by Human Communications Intelligence (HCI), built on the company's Nuclei technology.
The system analyses communications across more than 80 different digital channels. This analysis is powered by agentic artificial intelligence, which can autonomously monitor, assess, and flag potential communication-based risks as they happen, providing a transparent rationale for any actions taken.
Signals produced by these agents are directly integrated with Proofpoint's Insider Threat Management platform, allowing organisations to correlate user communications with endpoint activities. According to Proofpoint, this integration helps to surface motives and risk factors across the organisation, enabling intervention before they evolve into compliance or regulatory issues.
Customer feedback
Proofpoint stated that, as of mid-October 2025, the company holds a 4.8 out of 5 rating based on 114 customer reviews in the Enterprise Information Archiving sector on Gartner Peer Insights, within the DCG and archiving solutions category.
The reviews reflect customer experiences and opinions, rather than formal endorsements by Gartner.
Sector context
The Digital Communications Governance and archiving sector continues to evolve, as organisations face increasing demands for data security, regulatory compliance, and real-time oversight of internal and external communication channels. Vendors in this market segment are expected to address risks that arise from the expanding landscape of digital collaboration and AI-enabled workflows.
Gartner's assessment and the feedback collected through its peer review platform provide industry visibility of evolving approaches and technology deployments within compliance and communications archiving.
