HCLTech & Rubrik launch VaultNXT to boost cyber resilience

Wed, 27th Aug 2025

HCLTech and Rubrik have introduced HCLTech VaultNXT powered by Rubrik to strengthen the monitoring, detection, and remediation of ransomware attacks across enterprise, cloud, and SaaS environments.

This collaboration comes amid a period of increasing ransomware incidents and rising recovery costs for organisations, highlighting the limitations of relying solely on preventative cybersecurity measures for maintaining business continuity.

Cyber resilience focus

VaultNXT powered by Rubrik integrates several overlapping security measures using Rubrik Security Cloud technology. These features are designed to facilitate cyber recovery and preserve data integrity, supporting enterprises as they contend with increasingly sophisticated threats.

"With the prevalence and destruction of ransomware attacks, we understand that a strong cyber resilience strategy is essential," said Rampal Singh, Senior Vice President & Global Business Head- Hybrid Cloud, Application Operations and Mainframe Services at HCLTech. "At HCLTech, combined with VaultNXT powered by Rubrik and our dynamic security framework with a full spectrum of technology services, we are able to provide a stringent recovery process and seamless protection for our joint customers against cyber threats and ransomware compromises."

The joint solution is designed to serve businesses needing to monitor, detect, and if necessary, recover from ransomware or data breaches, responding to a sector-wide call for more comprehensive resilience rather than relying on prevention alone.

Technical features

VaultNXT powered by Rubrik offers an immutable architecture, which aims to protect backup data from being altered by malware or ransomware. The platform also incorporates AI and machine learning-driven monitoring and investigation tools for ransomware, along with sensitive data monitoring that can identify indicators of compromise (IOCs).

Turbo Threat Hunting is another function, allowing rapid scanning through thousands of backups to detect IOCs within minutes. If threats are discovered, the solution can contain incidents by quarantining infected snapshots, while orchestrated and automated application and identity recovery capabilities are intended to further support businesses in the event of an attack.

Industry context

According to Rubrik's 2025 State of Data Security Report, 90 per cent of IT and security leaders reported their organisation had experienced a cyberattack during the previous year. Data breaches (30 per cent) and malware infections on devices (29 per cent) were the most commonly cited attack vectors, highlighting the breadth of exposure facing contemporary enterprises.

The findings have pointed towards an increased need not just for preventive measures but also robust tools for response and recovery in the event of a breach. Currently, cyber resiliency - the capacity to recover quickly from data breaches while continuing business operations - is seen as central to organisational risk management.

VaultNXT powered by Rubrik addresses this necessity by offering granular identification of where sensitive data resides, what data types are present, and who has access. The solution integrates robust security controls directly at the data source and embeds orchestration features that form a pivotal part of the recovery process.

Unified management approach

"To tackle modern cyber threats, organisations need to move beyond singular prevention tactics and adopt a comprehensive 360-degree cybersecurity strategy," explained Mike Tornincasa, Chief Business Officer at Rubrik. "VaultNXT powered by Rubrik is built for this. With the Rubrik Security Cloud, our customers gain a unified interface that centralises control and deep visibility across their entire data landscape."

The companies aim to unify control and improve visibility for cybersecurity and IT professionals who are responsible for protecting increasingly distributed and complex enterprise data environments.

By deploying a layered approach to security and integrating automation and artificial intelligence capabilities, HCLTech and Rubrik say VaultNXT powered by Rubrik is intended to reduce data exposure during incidents and enable more resilient recovery frameworks across a diverse range of IT architectures and cloud services.
