Genetec upgrades Security Centre SaaS for access control

Wed, 18th Mar 2026

Genetec has released access control upgrades for Security Centre SaaS, including a redesigned front desk experience, faster navigation to common tasks, broader intrusion panel support, and an optional facial authentication integration.

The update is aimed at organisations that run access control and visitor management as separate workflows. It also supports companies looking to move more security operations to the cloud while keeping existing on-premises hardware.

Francis Lachance, Senior Director, Product at Genetec, said the release offers an alternative to wholesale infrastructure replacement and rigid cloud migration choices.

"Security teams shouldn't be constrained by legacy infrastructure or forced into all-or-nothing cloud decisions. Security Centre SaaS removes the friction of traditional upgrade cycles while preserving the architectural choice enterprises depend on. We're delivering enterprise-grade access control through the cloud in a way that lets organisations scale, adapt, and modernise without disrupting existing systems or compromising control."

Front desk changes

The redesigned front desk experience brings visitor check-in and access workflows into a single interface. Reception staff can manage scheduled visitors and walk-ins from the same screen, while the system applies access policies that determine how visitors receive privileges.

Security Centre SaaS also adds policy-driven visitor screening at check-in. Screening rules can compare visitor details against external databases and registries. If a match or exception is flagged, the system can trigger predefined actions, such as notifying security staff.

The design separates day-to-day reception tasks from central security policy configuration. Genetec said this keeps oversight with security teams while reducing manual steps at the front desk.

Genetec pointed to settings with frequent visitor processing and a need for consistent procedures, including schools, healthcare facilities, and corporate offices.

Hardware options

Genetec has also expanded hardware support in Security Centre SaaS. The platform uses an open architecture and connects existing access control and intrusion hardware through Genetec Cloudlink appliances, allowing organisations to keep current devices while changing how they are managed and monitored.

The release expands intrusion panel support for Radionix (formerly Bosch) and Honeywell. Honeywell Galaxy intrusion panels are included now, and DMP support is on the roadmap.

Genetec also added an integration with SAFR SCAN, offering facial authentication as an optional identity-verification method. The integration is intended for deployments that require stronger assurance than card-based entry systems.

Operationally, it provides an alternative to physical credentials such as cards or badges. Organisations can decide where to use biometrics based on site requirements and policies.

Rollout details

The new front desk experience is available to all Security Centre SaaS users. Expanded intrusion support is available now for Honeywell Galaxy panels, while DMP support is scheduled for June 2026. The SAFR biometrics integration is also expected by June 2026.

Genetec will demonstrate the updated Security Centre SaaS at ISC West, booth 13062.
