Gallagher unveils safer F5 & F6 smart fence controllers

Thu, 19th Mar 2026

Gallagher Security has released new F5 and F6 Fence Controllers for monitored pulse fence installations, expanding its perimeter security range with added safety and alarm features.

Positioned as the latest generation of its fence controller line, the devices are designed for deployments that use energised fencing as both a deterrent and a detection layer. Typical sites include utilities, remote industrial facilities, and transport yards.

The controllers align with IEC 60335-2-76 and regional variants, which set safety requirements for electric fence energisers and related equipment. Gallagher says this compliance supports long-term use across different markets and regulatory settings.

Dave Solly, Senior Product Manager at Gallagher Security, said perimeter systems play a key role in broader security designs.

"Gallagher's perimeter solutions are designed to deter, detect, and delay intruders, providing robust, flexible protection tailored to each site's unique requirements," Solly said.

Safety focus

The F5 and F6 add safety-focused functions that reflect changing expectations for energised fences. Gallagher says the new controllers include smart synchronisation features tied to newly introduced "safe limits" for operation.

Solly said the company expects the new models to be used across a range of environments, from critical infrastructure to remote and industrial sites.

"Regardless of what you are securing, whether critical infrastructure like utilities, remote facilities like mining, or transport and logistics yards, the new F5 and F6 Fence Controllers take safety to the next level, with enhanced features like smart synchronisation enabling compliance to the newly introduced 'safe limits' for operation of energised fences. The F5 and F6 Fence Controllers are Gallagher's latest development in intelligent perimeter solutions," Solly said.

F6 additions

Gallagher differentiates the F6 series from the F5 with additional functions, including Smart Synchronisation, Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV) readiness, and Dual Pulse Peak Measurement.

SELV readiness is aimed at scenarios where operators want movement detection at sensitive parts of a fence without deterrence. Dual Pulse Peak Measurement supports alarm operation for fences using a dual-pulse configuration, typically used in higher-specification deployments.

Software integration

The controllers work with Gallagher Command Centre version 9.40 and above. Gallagher also says the new models retain consistency with earlier fence controllers to support existing installation approaches.

The units can operate as standalone devices or as part of larger deployments. They integrate with the Gallagher Controller 7000 series and the Command Centre platform, supporting multi-zone and multi-controller installations for sites that require multiple perimeter segments, different rules, or centralised monitoring.

Solly said this structure allows customers to scale from a single zone to larger designs.

"The F5 and F6 series are designed to operate independently or seamlessly integrate with the award-winning Gallagher Controller 7000 series and Gallagher Command Centre ecosystem, giving End Users a scalable pathway from single-zone protection to layered, multi-zone, and multi-controller installations," Solly said.

Synchronisation method

A key technical theme is synchronisation along the perimeter fence. Gallagher describes Smart Sync as a method that keeps pulse timing consistent and adjusts energy levels if a synchronisation signal is lost.

Solly linked the approach to field conditions and the need for predictable operation across a site's perimeter.

"The new series delivers advanced features and future ready capability, along with Smart Sync technology, which maintains consistent pulse synchronisation along the fence and automatically adjusts energy levels if a sync signal is lost. This ensures the fence continues to provide the safest form of deterrent in all conditions," Solly said.

Gallagher says the F5 and F6 support standalone and networked installations, dual-zone configurations, and full integration with Command Centre software.

"With support for standalone or networked installations, dual‐zone configurations, and full integration with Gallagher Command Centre, the F5 and F6 Fence Controllers provide unmatched scalability and adaptability for sites of any size," Solly said.
