Cloudflare & CrowdStrike expand partnership for enhanced security

Fri, 31st May 2024

Cloudflare and CrowdStrike have announced an expansion of their strategic partnership focused on enhancing security across networks. The union aims to strengthen protection from devices to networks, expedite the transformation of Security Operations Centres (SOC), and prevent breaches on a large scale.

The enhanced alliance integrates Cloudflare One, known for its Zero Trust protection and connectivity, with CrowdStrike Falcon's Next-Gen Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) on the CrowdStrike Falcon XDR (Extended Detection and Response) platform. This collaboration is intended to help channel partners drive vendor consolidation while reducing costs and operational complexities for customers worldwide.

As cyber threats continue to evolve, organisations face an increasingly challenging security landscape. The diverse array of cybersecurity tools and the growing number of alerts contribute to complex and potentially compromised internal networks. A recent report by Gartner highlights the need to address this complexity by integrating various security tools into a cohesive strategy.

The CrowdStrike and Cloudflare partnership aims to address these challenges by leveraging AI-powered platforms capable of connecting remote users, offices, and data centres. This approach is designed to integrate data, security, and IT workflows, ultimately preventing adversaries from infiltrating systems further.

By combining their platforms, the two companies aim to offer a comprehensive solution. The integrated system will be accessible via a single API, designed to provide SOC teams with the full range of capabilities needed to detect and respond to cyberattacks across networks, devices, endpoints, cloud environments, identity management systems, data, and applications.

Daniel Bernard, Chief Business Officer at CrowdStrike, emphasised the value of their combined efforts. “CrowdStrike revolutionised cybersecurity with a modern, AI-native platform focused on stopping the breach. Our ability to execute on this mission and continually innovate across critical areas of enterprise risk is why we’re recognised as cybersecurity’s born in the cloud leader by industry analysts and customers. The rich dataset from our Falcon platform paired with Cloudflare’s robust Zero Trust capabilities provides unprecedented value for global customers. Together, we are converging two of the most critical pieces of the risk management puzzle that organisations of every size must address in order to combat today’s growing threats,” he explained.

Grant Bourzikas, Chief Security Officer at Cloudflare, shared a similar sentiment. “It’s becoming too complex for enterprises to effectively and efficiently manage risk posture with today’s expanding threat landscape. There is a significant need for organisations to enforce holistic and robust protections across their networks as attack vectors are only growing in size and sophistication. We have already seen organisations simultaneously adopting both Cloudflare and CrowdStrike; now, this partnership makes it simple for customers to reap the benefits of the industry’s leading cybersecurity providers, to enforce best-of-breed security across organisations.”

The collaboration leverages one of the largest and most interconnected networks globally from Cloudflare and CrowdStrike's leading capabilities in cybersecurity. This strategic partnership aims to provide organisations with enhanced visibility into risk signals and mechanisms to prevent breaches.
