Bitdefender launches GravityZone PHASR endpoint security globally
Bitdefender has announced the worldwide availability of its endpoint security system, GravityZone PHASR, to partners and customers, including in Australia and New Zealand.
Security approach
GravityZone PHASR is described as an endpoint security system that combines dynamic, behaviour-based security hardening with real-time threat intelligence. The solution is designed to prevent ransomware and living-off-the-land (LOTL) attacks, which exploit trusted tools and applications already present within company environments, often bypassing traditional security defences.
The availability as a standalone product means that organisations can integrate these prevention security capabilities into their existing setups. This can lower risks associated with excessive privileges, zero-day vulnerabilities, and third-party supply chain threats, while enabling businesses to maintain continuity with their current security operations.
Industry perspectives
Discussion around the changing cyber threat landscape has been supported by industry analysis. Gartner has stated, "traditional reactive cybersecurity is not effective against the sophisticated AI-driven threats that target today's expanding and interconnected global attack surface. Pre-emptive AI-powered approaches, such as dynamic attack surface reduction (DASR), self-healing security and adaptive trust, are essential to prevent these evolving threats."
The Gartner report included additional insight: "By 2030, 60% of large enterprises will use dynamic attack surface reduction technologies - up from less than 10% in 2025 - to pre-emptively reduce their attack surface and mitigate cyberthreat exposures."
"Businesses are facing a new generation of stealthy attacks that bypass traditional defences by exploiting trusted tools and applications already present in their environments. With PHASR now available as a standalone solution, we're making our pioneering technology accessible to all organisations, giving security teams a pre-emptive, behaviour-driven defence that dramatically reduces risk without requiring changes to their existing security operations," said Bitdefender president and GM Andrei Florescu.
Product details
GravityZone PHASR operates by establishing real-time behavioural baselines for users, devices, and applications. Through these baselines, the solution identifies anomalies in software use, privilege levels, and data access. When deviations from known safe behaviour are detected, PHASR automatically restricts only those tools and actions, allowing legitimate business operations to proceed while responding to potential threats.
The system is designed to provide security teams with increased control to neutralise attacks before escalation. Importantly, these features are intended to avoid additional IT complexity or negatively impacting productivity, which can be a concern with more invasive security technologies.
Key features
GravityZone PHASR provides several notable benefits as a standalone system. It is intended to complement any third-party endpoint protection platform (EPP), endpoint detection and response (EDR), or extended detection and response (XDR) solution. This capability allows organisations to deploy PHASR as an additional defence layer without the necessity of altering or replacing their existing security tools.
One core function is its ability to dynamically restrict access to Living-Off-the-Land Binaries (LOLBins) and other legitimate tools often leveraged in ransomware attacks. This targeted defence makes it more difficult for attackers to use well-known and trusted software for malicious purposes, limiting the potential success of playbook-style intrusions that can be reused across different environments.
PHASR also aims to reduce the attack surface for each user and device by correlating behavioural data with live threat intelligence. The product is intended to decrease the volume of unnecessary security alerts, which can assist resource-constrained security teams in focusing their attention, thereby increasing their operational efficiency.
Market availability
GravityZone PHASR as a standalone solution is now available worldwide for businesses and channel partners.
