Cradlepoint launches rapid-deploy secure network solution NetCloud SASE
Thu, 25th Apr 2024

Cradlepoint, a division of global leader Ericsson, has announced the launch of its single vendor Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solution, NetCloud SASE. The innovative solution is revolutionary in enabling even the leanest IT teams to create zero-trust networks at scale in a matter of just six minutes.

Aligned with the agile enterprise, the introduction of NetCloud SASE allows for the integral combination of cellular-centric SD-WAN and security into a fully unified solution, promising dynamic network deployment in as little as six minutes. This could help fill the industry void for simplified networking and security within evolving environments.

Industry expert IDC predicts that 5G and 4G/LTE Enterprise Wireless WAN will reach $5.5 billion in revenue by 2027. With vast adoption allowing larger organisational reach and service proximity to customers, there is an increasing necessity for simplified, scalable and specialised SASE solutions. These solutions should effectively scale beyond fixed sites to secure dynamic environments, including shifting locations, roaming vehicles, proliferating IoT devices, and employees connecting from anywhere.

Head of Enterprise Networking and Cybersecurity Products at Cradlepoint, Pankaj Malhotra, asserted, "Cradlepoint has more than a decade of experience simplifying cellular networking for enterprises operating in the most challenging environments on the planet. We are now enhancing the simplicity of enterprise-class network security for even the leanest IT organisations by introducing a SASE solution that integrates cellular, SD-WAN, and security in a unified platform."

NetCloud SASE embraces unique design elements, including cellular optimisation and unparalleled simplicity, providing a clean, single-pass architecture that delivers one platform, policy engine, and consistent provisioning experience across all services. Security is not an afterthought; it is built into the design rather than bolted on, creating a zero-trust foundation that is deny-all by default. As the network expands and scales, this improves security by obscuring all IP addresses, blocking east-west traffic, and minimising the attack surface.

Further features of the platform include cutting-edge isolation technology to block zero-day exploits, offering a zero-trust method to web and email security, and using Remote Browser Isolation to entirely separate users from malicious web activity. This not only protects organisations from phishing attacks and protects intellectual property from potential leaks but also disarms embedded malware in attachments. In an innovative move, NetCloud SASE replaces the typical practice of providing clientless browser-based access for unmanaged devices, employing an isolation-based security approach to isolate corporate applications from these devices and thus reducing the risk of malware infection.

'Streamlining the transition from wired to wireless WAN, NetCloud SASE provides a common networking and security policy engine, and consistent provisioning experience across all SASE features', commented Senior Industry Analyst Ivan McPhee of GigaOm. Based on GigaOm’s Radar Report, Cradlepoint has been recognised as a Challenger and Outperformer in SASE.

The early access version of NetCloud SASE is available immediately and general availability is anticipated in late Q2 2024.
