Vectra AI appoints Chua Hock Leng to lead APJ region growth

Yesterday

Vectra AI has appointed Chua Hock Leng as Vice President and General Manager for Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ).

Chua Hock Leng will take responsibility for Vectra AI's growth strategy in the region, focusing on strengthening relationships with customers, expanding the partner ecosystem, and increasing market operations to meet the rising need for advanced threat detection in hybrid and cloud environments.

With over 20 years of experience in sectors such as enterprise security, cloud infrastructure, and digital transformation, Hock Leng has previously held leadership positions at EMC, RSA, and Pure Storage. This experience equips him to manage the demands of the APJ region, including working with heavily regulated industries and navigating diverse market requirements.

According to Vectra AI, cybersecurity has become an important strategic concern for business leaders. The company notes that the role of security now extends beyond protection, acting as a driver of business growth for many organisations. In line with this, Hock Leng will pursue strategic initiatives to help organisations across APJ address security challenges linked to digital transformation.

"What drew me to Vectra AI was the opportunity to help shape the future of cybersecurity in a time when traditional approaches are no longer enough," said Hock Leng. "As organisations across APJ embrace digital transformation, securing complex environments - especially against identity-based and lateral movement attacks - is more critical than ever. Vectra's AI-driven platform is purpose-built for this challenge, helping security teams detect and respond to real threats faster and with greater precision."

Hock Leng sees particular opportunities in sectors such as financial services, healthcare, critical infrastructure, and government. These industries are facing an expanding cyber threat landscape while navigating additional regulatory pressures. The new regional leader intends to prioritise partnerships, especially with hyperscalers and managed security service providers (MSSPs), to build a connected network of security solutions for improved operational outcomes.

"Hock Leng is a proven leader who understands both the strategic needs of enterprise customers and the technical dynamics of cybersecurity," said David Kluzak, Chief Commercial Officer, Vectra AI. "His deep knowledge of the region and commitment to customer success make him the ideal leader to drive our next chapter of growth across APJ."

Alongside expanding strategic partnerships, Vectra AI intends to demonstrate its latest generative AI technology under Hock Leng's leadership. This technology is designed to help customers accelerate threat detection and reduce irrelevant security alerts, and will be introduced through various customer, partner, and executive engagement opportunities.

Hock Leng commented further on his vision for the team and the broader customer relationship approach.

"As a team, we're focused on being more than just a technology vendor. We aim to be a strategic ally to our customers - supporting them through complexity with clarity, speed, and trust."

Vectra AI provides an AI-driven platform for network detection and response, catering to environments across the data centre, campus, remote work, identity, cloud, and OT sectors. The company has a presence in several high-profile industry assessments and holds multiple patents related to AI security.

Chua Hock Leng's appointment forms part of the broader company strategy to address the evolving demands of APJ businesses, supporting them as they respond to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats encountered during ongoing digital transformation.
