Varonis expands IaaS security to Google Cloud service

Varonis has announced the expansion of its IaaS security coverage to Google Cloud, enhancing its data protection capabilities.

This new integration extends Varonis' data-centric security approach to include Google Cloud's storage systems and data warehouses. With the increasing need to secure sensitive information, Varonis aims to facilitate automatic data discovery, threat detection, and remediation at scale to mitigate the risk of data breaches.

Varonis emphasises the challenge organisations face in identifying sensitive data and managing risks in extensive cloud environments without automation. Unlike other tools that primarily focus on monitoring configurations, Varonis concentrates on data itself to offer comprehensive visibility while proactively identifying and resolving data risk issues.

The company's platform enables customers to consistently enhance their data security measures, helping to prevent breaches and uphold a state of least privilege across cloud environments.

With the integration of Varonis for Google Cloud, customers can automatically discover and classify sensitive data within environments like Google Cloud Storage and BigQuery. The system flags overexposed files and datasets, allowing clients to manage data exposure efficiently.

Additionally, Varonis offers the ability to restrict visibility of sensitive information using dynamic data masking, which limits exposure according to user roles. This includes data types such as PII, PCI, and PHI within BigQuery.

The service also emphasises threat detection and response, proactively identifying both internal and external threats through continuous monitoring of data activity and user behaviour.

Enhancing the speed of permissions and exposure analysis, Varonis connects the aspects of identity, permissions, and data exposure risk, enabling faster investigation and resolution of issues.
