Tenable unveils patch management to close security gaps

Today

Tenable has unveiled its latest solution, Tenable Patch Management, which promises to enhance the process of closing security gaps created by vulnerabilities.

According to a report by Tenable, only 11% of organisations report being efficient in vulnerability remediation, highlighting a significant challenge as attackers' average time-to-exploitation has decreased from 32 days to just five days. This new approach aims to considerably improve the efficiency of addressing these vulnerabilities.

Tenable Patch Management is built upon a strategic partnership and integration with Adaptiva, a company providing autonomous endpoint management.

It merges autonomous patching capabilities from Adaptiva with Tenable's existing vulnerability coverage, prioritisation, threat intelligence, and real-time insight. This integration is designed to automate the correlation of vulnerabilities to available patches, allowing organisations to reduce the gap from discovery to remediation.

The solution provides customisable controls, enabling IT teams to decide the timing, method, and location for deploying patches. It includes features such as automatic patch testing to prevent problematic updates from being installed, ensuring organisations can patch with confidence. The system is aimed at helping organisations address critical exposures efficiently by identifying the most impactful vulnerabilities across their networks.

Shai Morag, Chief Product Officer at Tenable, remarked, "Tenable's approach to patch management keeps security teams in the driver's seat."

"Organisations can accurately remediate exposures, streamlining the time from discovery to remediation all while in full control. The combined power of Tenable's market-leading identification and prioritisation and Adaptiva's innovative autonomous patch functionality enables enterprises of all sizes to close the gap between security and IT and free up team resources to focus on the threats that matter most to their business."

Tenable Patch Management is available as an addition to several of Tenable's existing products, including Tenable One, Tenable Vulnerability Management, Tenable Security Center, and Tenable Enclave Security.

It offers features such as automated correlation between vulnerabilities and patches, automated patching with extensive approval and control settings, the ability to pause, cancel or rollback patches, and automatic validation to confirm successful remediation. Additionally, it helps monitor compliance status in line with company policy, making it easier for organisations to provide leadership with actionable metrics.

This launch is expected to aid organisations significantly by reducing the time it takes to remediate vulnerabilities and improve overall security postures by quickly addressing critical security exposures.
