Tenable Solutions passes IRAP assessment for optimal cyber security

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Tenable Solutions has successfully undergone a PROTECTED level IRAP (Infosec Security Registered Assessors Program) assessment by the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD). The completion of this assessment not only confirms the company's dedication to upholding renowned cybersecurity standards but also offers government organisations the assurance of robust security measures. These agencies can now benefit from the capabilities of Tenable Vulnerability Management and Tenable Web App Scanning.

The IRAP assessment is an independent examination of the effectiveness of system security controls. Tenable Solutions, a leader in the exposure management category, has now validated its capability to protect sensitive data. This is particularly significant as government departments move towards cloud-based working environments.

"Persistent breaches targeting government systems, critical infrastructure, and information networks pose a real threat to Australia's national security. The IRAP program plays a key role as an assurance mechanism, confirming that technology solutions like Tenable's meet the stringent cyber standards of the Australian government," said Robert Huber, Chief Security Officer and Head of Research at Tenable. "Completing this assessment not only demonstrates our commitment to improving national security but also adhering to top security and compliance standards for critical government initiatives."

Tenable's cloud-based, flexible solutions combined with rigorous data isolation rules help manoeuvre the complex field of dynamic assets typically found in cloud and container settings. The exposure management platform from Tenable not only identifies vulnerabilities but also transforms raw vulnerability data into actionable business intelligence, effectively reducing cybersecurity risks. Such features are crucial for Australian entities aiming to comply with the Essential 8 strategies propagated by the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC).

Scott McKinnel, Tenable ANZ's Country Manager, recognised the challenge lies in filtering actionable insights from the vast available data as organisations increasingly move towards the cloud. "Tenable advocates a change in approach, moving beyond merely scanning on-premises IT assets for vulnerabilities. Instead, we promote a context-driven analytics approach, equipping cybersecurity teams with the ability to anticipate and proactively counter threats," Scott remarked.
