Tenable hires Microsoft veteran Vlad Korsunsky as CTO
Tenable has appointed former Microsoft executive Vlad Korsunsky as Chief Technology Officer and Managing Director of Tenable Israel, as the cybersecurity company sharpens its focus on artificial intelligence and exposure management.
Korsunsky will lead Tenable's global technology strategy from its Israel Innovation Centre in Tel Aviv. He will oversee the company's technical vision and platform roadmap and will report to co-chief executive Steve Vintz.
The company said the appointment represents a significant step in its plan to expand its role in exposure management across cloud, IT and critical infrastructure environments. It has placed particular emphasis on the use of AI in both cyber defence and risk management.
Korsunsky will take responsibility for the strategy behind the Tenable One Exposure Management Platform. He will also lead work on the company's AI initiatives and longer-term technology priorities.
The move underlines the growing importance of Israel within Tenable's research and development footprint. The Tel Aviv centre serves as a hub for engineering and innovation, and Korsunsky will combine his global CTO remit with local leadership of the unit.
Microsoft security veteran
Korsunsky joins Tenable after more than ten years at Microsoft. He most recently served as Corporate Vice President of Cloud and Enterprise Security.
At Microsoft he led teams that built and operated multi-cloud security and enterprise AI security products. He also oversaw exposure management businesses within the company's wider security portfolio.
Tenable said Korsunsky played a central role in shaping Microsoft's AI security strategy and in launching new security-related business lines. His career spans more than 25 years in software engineering and cybersecurity leadership roles.
Vintz said the hire comes at a time of rising interest in AI risk and exposure management among large organisations.
"Vlad is a visionary technology leader who has operated and succeeded at the highest levels of the industry," said Vintz, Co-CEO, Tenable. "As we boldly advance our exposure management vision, he is exactly the leader we need to accelerate our platform leadership, especially with the rising demand for AI risk management. We're fortunate to have him driving our technology strategy so we can deliver even greater value to our customers."
Industry leaders have been under pressure to address security issues arising from increased adoption of cloud services and AI tools. Vendors have responded with a range of products that combine vulnerability assessment with continuous monitoring of assets across networks, endpoints and public cloud platforms.
Focus on AI and exposure
Tenable describes itself as an exposure management specialist. Its business centres on technology that identifies security weaknesses across an organisation's attack surface and supports decisions on remediation.
The company has said that AI is changing both how defenders work and how attackers operate. It has positioned AI as a core element of its platform strategy for analytics and decision support.
Korsunsky said Tenable has an established position in this segment of the security market.
"Tenable is the defining leader in exposure management, with unmatched breadth and depth of coverage, analytics and expertise," said Korsunsky. "We are uniquely positioned for this moment, where AI is not only reshaping how we work, but also the attack landscape and how it is defended. I'm energised by the opportunity ahead, and I look forward to working with this talented team to deliver solutions and a future that makes a real difference for our customers."
Tenable said it serves about 44,000 customers worldwide with products that provide visibility into security exposures across IT, cloud and operational technology systems.
The company said Korsunsky's mix of cloud security, AI and exposure management experience would guide its next phase of platform development as it responds to shifts in attack techniques and regulatory expectations.
Korsunsky holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from Bar-Ilan University and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Reichman University. He will begin his role based in Tel Aviv as Tenable pursues its long-term technology roadmap.
