Tenable debuts AI exposure tool for unified cyber risk

Wed, 28th Jan 2026

Tenable has launched Tenable One AI Exposure, a new release of its Tenable One Exposure Management Platform that adds AI discovery, protection and usage governance across enterprise environments.

The company said the product identifies where AI is deployed and used across SaaS platforms, cloud services, APIs and agents. Tenable said it also connects AI-related findings with broader cyber risk signals inside the same platform.

AI exposure

Tenable described what it calls an "AI Exposure Gap". The company said it stems from the way AI tools and services sit across applications, infrastructure, identities, agents and data. Tenable said many security teams lack visibility of where AI is used, what data or processes it touches, who owns or can access it, and how users interact with it.

Tenable positioned the release as an extension of its exposure management approach into AI-related risk. The company said it treats AI exposure as part of the wider attack surface and risk picture that organisations already track for cybersecurity.

Discovery and context

Tenable said Tenable One AI Exposure continuously discovers AI usage across internal and external environments, including on-premises and cloud. It said this covers sanctioned deployments and "shadow AI". The company said the discovery spans applications, workloads, APIs and agents.

Tenable also outlined a second area of the release focused on exposure context. It said the platform correlates AI usage with infrastructure, identity and data. Tenable said this approach highlights how exposure arises across interconnected systems. The company said it reduces noise and surfaces potential AI attack paths.

The third area focuses on remediation and governance. Tenable said customers can remediate misconfigurations and close exposed services. It also said the product supports acceptable-use policy enforcement for AI, limits data exposure and generates evidence for audits tied to governance and compliance activity.

"Tenable One brings AI exposure out of siloes and into a unified operational model for cyber risk where it can be seen, understood and reduced," said Eric Doerr, Chief Product Officer, Tenable. "By connecting the dots between AI risk and the larger business risk, Tenable delivers the visibility and context security leaders need for informed proactive defence."

Analyst references

Tenable also pointed to Gartner research that referenced the company's position in AI-powered exposure assessment. The company cited a Gartner report that said, "Tenable achieved its front-runner status in EAP by not only leveraging its long-standing dominance in vulnerability assessment but also combining its strong asset and attack surface discovery capabilities, support for third-party telemetry ingestion and AI."

In addition, Tenable said it was named a Leader in Gartner's first Magic Quadrant for Exposure Assessment Platforms. It said Gartner positioned Tenable highest for Ability to Execute and furthest to the right for Completeness of Vision.

Tenable said Tenable One AI Exposure provides unified AI visibility, contextualised exposure insights, and exposure-reduction steps across the environments where organisations run AI services, and connects them with data and identity systems.

The company said the release is generally available as part of Tenable One.
