TeamViewer unveils Agentless Access for secure industrial control

Tue, 11th Nov 2025

TeamViewer has launched a new feature called Agentless Access for its enterprise platform Tensor, targeting manufacturers and machine builders seeking to manage operational technology systems remotely without the need for software installation on each device.

The announcement underscores the company's push to support secure and simplified operations across industrial environments.

Remote management

Agentless Access means operators can now access and work on machines, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and human-machine interfaces (HMIs) from a central location. This eliminates the need to install dedicated software on each device, streamlining maintenance and troubleshooting for users managing large-scale industrial systems.

Cybersecurity emphasis

In an era of increasingly connected factories, security concerns remain high for both information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) teams.

Agentless Access is designed with a focus on cybersecurity, enforcing zero-trust remote access and providing granular access controls, protocol isolation, and comprehensive audit logging. These capabilities give IT departments the tools to retain governance and oversight, while OT teams maintain operational control and safety procedures.

Configuration flexibility

The new feature extends Tensor's existing capabilities, allowing for central management and simplified configuration of various OT endpoints, including legacy devices and closed systems. According to TeamViewer, the service reduces operational barriers as manufacturers no longer have to alter existing device software to enable remote access, removing a significant risk of downtime or security gaps.

Industrial adoption

Companies such as Schwäbische Werkzeugmaschinen are already leveraging Tensor for remote PLC programming and automation. The addition of Agentless Access aims to build on these applications, supporting the shift towards more centralised and secure control of shop floor equipment and processes.

Compliance needs

Organisations face strict compliance requirements as industrial systems become more integrated and susceptible to cyberattacks. Agentless Access offers a way to fulfil those requirements by providing traceability and control over remote actions, ensuring access is only granted under specific, documented conditions. This supports manufacturers in maintaining their regulatory obligations while upgrading their digital capabilities.

Platform integration

Agentless Access operates alongside Tensor's Hybrid Conditional Access feature, providing an environment suited to complex, highly segmented industrial networks. The bundle is intended to give manufacturers a secure, flexible connection tool that streamlines workflows for troubleshooting and ongoing maintenance without compromising compliance or exposing critical assets.

"IT and OT have different goals, but they share the same challenge: keeping operations secure and running," said Caroline Hempfing, Director of Product Management, TeamViewer. "Agentless Access bridges that gap. It gives manufacturers a reliable way to connect to critical systems remotely without compromising compliance or security- a must in today's connected production landscape."
