SquareX unveils browser security tech at Melbourne CyberCon

Thu, 21st Nov 2024

SquareX has announced the introduction of its Browser Detection and Response (BDR) solution at the AISA Melbourne CyberCon 2024.

SquareX, a company based in Palo Alto, California, is participating in the conference to present its BDR solution, which is designed to address the increasing threat of browser-based cyber threats within enterprises. The event, which takes place from 26th to 28th November, provides a platform for SquareX to demonstrate the capabilities of its solution at StartUp Booth 42.

The company highlights the browser's role as the most utilised application in enterprise environments, yet often the least protected. Traditional endpoint security lacks visibility within the browser, while Secure Web Gateways (SWG) fall short in detecting client-side attacks due to insufficient user context. This gap presents a significant risk that SquareX aims to mitigate with its browser-focused security approach.

The SquareX solution operates as a browser-native security layer, incorporating data metrics such as browser Document Object Model (DOM) insights and user context. This integration allows security teams to define specific policies that aim to shield employees from web-based threats.

In addition to its primary offering, SquareX has launched a new tool, scan.browser.security, which provides over 25 SWG bypass tests. This resource enables enterprises and vendors to better assess their browser security posture.

"Cyber threats are on the rise globally and in Australia," stated Vivek Ramachandran, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SquareX. "As reported by authorities such as the Australian Signals Directorate in its recent Cyber Threat Report 2022-2023, malicious cyber activity continues to pose a risk to Australia's security and prosperity."

SquareX's solution, available as an extension on major browsers, is engineered to detect client-side attacks, prevent data loss, and facilitate secure access to private applications from unmanaged devices. Ramachandran asserted, "Our solution allows security teams to immediately mitigate attacks and conduct threat-hunting across the organization."

The company has also scheduled an expert session on Wednesday, 27th November at 2pm AEST, featuring Vivek Ramachandran and Jeswin Mathai, Chief Architect of SquareX. Their talk, "The Silver Bullet in Your Enterprise Defense Strategy: Browser Security Solutions", will discuss the importance of native browser security solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and non-profits, and provide guidance on choosing an appropriate solution based on criteria like scalability, attack coverage, and cost.

SquareX invites attendees to visit Booth 42 at the AISA Melbourne CyberCon to witness live demonstrations of its BDR solution and explore how its browser-native strategy addresses vital gaps in cybersecurity today.
