SquareX unveils breakthrough browser security
SquareX is set to present its new Browser Detection and Response (BDR) technology at the upcoming GovWare 2024.
Designed to address client-side web attacks directly within the browser, this solution aims to redefine enterprise browser security by providing protection in real-time.
The web browser remains a critical tool for enterprises, frequently used yet often inadequately protected. SquareX highlights that employees and consultants, commonly the targets of cyber-attacks, face significant threats during their routine online activities. According to SquareX, its BDR technology uniquely concentrates on such client-side web attacks, promising enhanced security for enterprise users.
Major enterprises have long relied on Secure Web Gateways (SWGs) to fortify their security posture. However, research by SquareX challenges the reliability of traditional SWGs, particularly against a class of attacks termed Last Mile Reassembly Attacks. These attacks, as SquareX asserts, can bypass even the most acclaimed SWGs in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Secure Access Security Edge (SASE) and Secure Security Edge (SSE), calling into question the effectiveness of conventional methods.
"Today, the browser is always the initial access point for web attacks," stated Vivek Ramachandran, Founder and CEO of SquareX. He elaborated on the company's technology, emphasizing its ability to "stop these attacks in their tracks—in the browser itself, in real-time against complex client-side threats—without ever compromising employees' security and productivity."
SquareX's solution is engineered to thwart client-side attacks that traditional security solutions might miss. This includes threats such as Last Mile Reassembly Attacks, Malicious QR Codes, Browser-in-the-Browser Phishing, Macro-Based Malware, and other browser-based attacks. Ramachandran further noted that the solution addresses significant gaps left by traditional SWGs and delivers unprecedented protection for enterprises.
SquareX will demonstrate its BDR solution live and showcase more than 30 techniques used by attackers which are capable of bypassing existing security measures.
SquareX's participation at GovWare presents an opportunity for cybersecurity professionals to delve into discussions regarding the future of browser security and explore new approaches within the emerging BDR solution space.
