Slipstream Cyber appoints Chris Pallister to cyber role

Tue, 31st Mar 2026

Slipstream Cyber has appointed Chris Pallister as Head of Cyber Engineering and Operations, expanding its senior cyber leadership team.

Pallister joins from CyberCX, where he held a senior cyber leadership role. He brings nearly 15 years of experience across IT and cyber security in the UK and Australia, spanning engineering, consulting and executive leadership.

At Slipstream Cyber, he will oversee the company's managed cyber security services and 24/7 security operations centre, with responsibility for AI-enabled security operations and threat detection.

The appointment comes as cyber security providers face rising demand from organisations seeking round-the-clock monitoring and response. Across the sector, companies are placing greater emphasis on automation and threat intelligence as attacks become faster and more complex.

Pallister's previous roles included building and running multi-region security operations centre environments. His background also covers penetration testing, governance, risk and compliance, and infrastructure programmes supporting customers across multiple continents and regulatory environments.

Operational focus

The role centres on managed security services and security operations delivery. Founded in 2017, Slipstream Cyber provides cyber defence services including an Australian-based security operations centre, managed detection and response, and penetration testing.

The business is part of Interactive, an Australian IT services provider serving more than 2,000 customers across cloud, cyber security, data centres, business continuity, network services and digital workplace services. Interactive has more than 600 staff.

Security operations centres are under pressure to process growing volumes of alerts while reducing response times. That has led many operators to examine how machine learning and AI tools can support triage, detection and analyst workflows.

"Security operations centres must evolve beyond responding to threats at human speed," said Chris Pallister, Head of Cyber Engineering and Operations at Slipstream Cyber. "My focus is on accelerating SOC capability so we can respond at machine speed - operationalising threat intelligence and using AI to augment analysts, not replace them. That's how security teams stay ahead in today's threat environment."

His comments reflect a broader shift in the cyber security market, as suppliers try to balance automation with human oversight. Many providers argue that AI tools can help analysts manage routine tasks, while stressing that people remain central to investigations and decision-making.

Local market

Pallister also highlighted the domestic cyber security workforce as consolidation continues across the industry. Australia's market has seen ongoing merger activity and investment as larger providers seek scale in managed services and specialist firms seek broader reach.

"Australia has exceptional cyber security talent," Pallister said. "As the industry undergoes rapid consolidation, it's increasingly important to continue investing in strong sovereign cyber security capability - ensuring Australian organisations are protected by teams focused on securing local businesses, critical infrastructure and communities."

That focus on sovereign operations has become a recurring theme among Australian cyber security firms and their customers, particularly in sectors handling sensitive data or supporting critical services. Locally based security operations centres are often presented as a way to address regulatory, operational and trust requirements.

Pallister's experience in scaling security operations was a factor in the appointment. Slipstream Cyber has been investing in its security operations centre model, with a focus on threat intelligence and customer service.

"Chris brings deep operational cyber experience and a strong customer-first mindset. His leadership in scaling sovereign SOC operations and advancing AI-enabled security will play an important role as we continue to evolve our 24/7 cyber defence capability," said David Kaplan, General Manager Cyber Security at Slipstream Cyber.
