SailPoint links Claude Enterprise to identity governance
Fri, 22nd May 2026 (Today)
SailPoint has launched an integration with Anthropic's Claude Compliance API. The connector is available to customers using SailPoint Identity Security Cloud with Claude Enterprise.
The integration extends SailPoint's identity governance tools to Claude Enterprise, giving organisations a central way to manage access to users, groups, group members and roles. It also brings oversight of AI agents into the same framework, as companies seek tighter controls over the use of generative AI tools at work.
The announcement reflects a wider shift in cyber security and IT governance, as businesses increasingly treat AI systems like other critical business applications. Identity and access management vendors have been adapting their products to address the rise of non-human identities, including software agents, workloads and application programming interfaces.
The connector is intended to give companies visibility into who is using Claude Enterprise and how access is assigned. Customers will also be able to govern AI agents through SailPoint's existing registry for non-human identities across an organisation's systems.
That focus points to growing concern among security teams over so-called shadow AI, where staff use AI services without formal approval or oversight. As large language models become more deeply embedded in everyday business processes, companies are under pressure to show that use of those tools can be monitored and controlled under existing compliance and risk policies.
For SailPoint, the integration adds another layer to its effort to extend identity security beyond employee accounts. The company argues that identity now includes machines, APIs, workloads and AI agents, creating a larger and more complex access-control environment.
Anthropic's Claude Enterprise is aimed at organisations that want company-wide access to the Claude assistant and related tools. The Compliance API allows external systems to pull data relevant to governance and oversight, making it easier for security and IT platforms to integrate AI activity into established control processes.
Chandra Gnanasambandam, Executive Vice President of Product and Chief Technology Officer at SailPoint, described the launch as an effort to move beyond discussion of AI security toward practical controls.
"While the industry discusses the future of AI security, SailPoint is delivering it today. As Anthropic makes its Compliance API available, SailPoint is building a meaningful, governance-focused integration," said Chandra Gnanasambandam, Executive Vice President of Product and Chief Technology Officer at SailPoint.
He added that the goal is to apply established governance practices to AI systems from the outset.
"This gives our customers the ability to not just monitor, but truly govern their AI workforce from day one, treating AI platform access with the same rigor and contextual understanding as they would for a critical application or datastore," Gnanasambandam said.
Broader push
The launch comes as suppliers across the identity and security market race to position themselves around AI oversight. Many corporate customers now want tools that can connect workforce identity controls with the use of external and internal AI services, especially where those services may handle sensitive company information or generate actions through autonomous agents.
Customers will be able to use a central control point to secure access across an agent ecosystem that includes Claude agents. The integration also uses contextual access signals, including who is requesting access and under what circumstances, to support risk-based decision-making.
Although vendors are increasingly talking about AI governance, practical implementation remains uneven. In many organisations, AI deployments have expanded quickly through individual teams and departments, often ahead of formal policy. That has left security leaders trying to map which systems are in use, who has access to them and whether automated agents should be governed in the same way as human users.
The SailPoint connector is available now for customers using SailPoint Identity Security Cloud with Claude Enterprise, adding Claude to the list of systems covered by the company's identity governance model.
