Reolink unveils OMVI 2i Ultra with new AI features

Reolink has unveiled the OMVI 2i Ultra and a broader range of home security products, including new on-device artificial intelligence features for its camera platform.
The OMVI 2i Ultra is a wire-free dual-view camera that combines an 8MP wide-view lens with a 5MP pan-tilt lens. Its SyncTrack feature is designed to keep following a subject after it moves out of the wide camera's field of view.
The device includes a detachable 10,000mAh battery and a built-in solar panel. Reolink says the camera can run for up to six months on a single charge, based on limited daily recording, while the solar panel is intended to maintain operation with short periods of sunlight.
The new model expands the OMVI range, which already includes the OMVI 3i PoE and WiFi. The OMVI X16 PoE, a higher-resolution model with optical zoom, remains on the roadmap.
AI features
Alongside the hardware launch, Reolink outlined new functions for ReoNeura, its on-device AI system. The main addition is Custom AI Detection, which allows users to train the system to identify scenarios specific to a home or business.
One example is recognising when a side gate is left open. The feature is expected to arrive in a firmware update by December and will operate without a subscription.
These AI tools are closely tied to the new Reolink Home Hub 2, a local hub for storing, searching and managing footage from up to eight cameras. It also offers Local AI Video Search, which lets users search recorded footage using natural-language descriptions.
The Home Hub 2 supports up to 16TB of external storage and will be available in spring at AUD $259.99.
Broader line-up
Reolink is also expanding its TrackFlex range with the TrackFlex WiFi. The camera uses a dual-lens 4K design and offers 270-degree out-of-view detection, along with 355-degree pan and 50-degree tilt.
It also includes dual-band Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and AI detection for people, vehicles and animals. The TrackFlex WiFi will be available on 20 October at AUD $289.99.
Reolink is also broadening compatibility with other smart home platforms. Its products now work with Alexa, Google Home, Home Assistant, Homey and IFTTT.
Users can view live camera feeds on supported smart displays, trigger automations based on camera events and control devices with voice commands. Compatibility with Home Assistant and Homey also extends links to other connected devices and sensors in the home.
Local processing
The latest announcements highlight a broader push in the home security market towards local processing and storage, rather than cloud-based analysis tied to recurring fees. Reolink is positioning its AI functions around on-device use, with customer-defined detection and local video search presented as alternatives to subscription models.
The approach may appeal to buyers concerned about ongoing costs or about sending footage to the cloud. It also reflects growing competition among camera makers over how advanced video analysis can be delivered in consumer devices without shifting every function to remote servers.
Custom AI Detection is planned first for the Home Hub 2, with compatibility set to expand later to selected standalone cameras. The new functions are intended to let users define alerts around conditions specific to their own property, rather than relying only on standard categories such as people, vehicles or animals.
