OpenText launches Secure Cloud for Australian MSPs

Wed, 11th Mar 2026

OpenText has launched an updated Secure Cloud platform in Australia for managed security providers. The release combines security, backup, and recovery services in a single multi-tenant system, with local-currency billing and additional operational tools.

OpenText positioned the update as a response to operational complexity for managed service providers and rising demand for cyber resilience among Australian organisations. The platform uses a self-service, self-provisioning model designed to reduce administrative overhead and simplify customer environment management.

Secure Cloud supports billing in Australian dollars and introduces consolidated billing and invoicing. It also adds streamlined customer management and expanded reporting for providers that serve multiple end customers.

Channel focus

OpenText described Secure Cloud as a channel-led offering for providers that sell and manage security and data protection services. It uses a two-tier partner model, working with local distributors for support and services alongside managed security providers that deliver services to customers.

The release targets Australian small and mid-sized businesses and mid-market organisations, where managed providers often bundle multiple cybersecurity and data protection services under recurring contracts. OpenText said these segments remain exposed to cyber threats and face constraints on staffing and specialist skills.

OpenText also pointed to expected growth in Australia's managed services sector, citing forecasts that it will expand from around AUD $3.6 billion to AUD $6.4 billion by 2032. It attributed the growth to broader shifts toward cloud services and increased demand for outsourced IT management.

Threat backdrop

OpenText cited its OpenText Cybersecurity 2025 Global Managed Security Survey and highlighted figures on ransomware exposure in Australia. It said 42% of surveyed Australian businesses were compromised by a ransomware attack, with more than half experiencing multiple attacks in the past year.

It also reported that 82% were unable to recover all encrypted or stolen data, and that 34% of respondents said they paid a ransom as part of recovery.

OpenText also pointed to regulatory and commercial pressures in Australia, including stricter regulations such as the Cybersecurity Act 2024 and tighter cyber insurance requirements. It said these changes have increased the compliance burden for many organisations.

It also referenced the Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2024, which it said is reshaping expectations around data privacy practices. OpenText linked these pressures to growing demand for managed services that cover both security controls and data protection measures.

Product scope

Secure Cloud combines multiple tools in a single platform. OpenText said the suite includes endpoint protection, email threat protection and DNS protection, security awareness training, email continuity and encryption, and cloud backup.

The platform also includes managed detection and response and endpoint detection and response. OpenText said partners can consolidate data and email security, detection and response functions, and recovery services in the same multi-tenant environment.

The update also introduces a modern interface and new workflows for managed providers, including integrated task management and new processes for managing client estates across customer accounts.

The platform adds a recommendation feature that analyses environment-wide data and highlights gaps. OpenText said the recommendations cover email risk, compliance, data risk, and other security needs, and can be used to tailor controls across a customer environment.

OpenText said managed providers can also create packaged service bundles for end customers using best-practice templates and streamlined provisioning. The system includes enriched product recommendations when it identifies gaps, alongside improved reporting and analytics.

OpenText framed the billing changes as a practical update for Australia, where providers often operate across mixed consumption models and require detailed invoicing across customer tenants. It said Secure Cloud offers greater flexibility in billing models to support customer budgets and service scaling.

"At OpenText, we've observed the Australian market were early adopters of managed services, and we're seeing a clear shift among our partners in Australia toward managed security services and hybrid delivery models," said Steve Stavridis, Regional Vice President, APAC, OpenText Cybersecurity.

Stavridis also linked the update to rising compliance expectations and data governance pressures for organisations handling sensitive information.

"We understand the unique challenges MSPs face in today's fast-evolving threat landscape and the growing complexity around data privacy and compliance," he said.

OpenText expects managed providers to use the platform to sell combined cybersecurity and data protection services under a single operating model, supported by local billing and consolidated management across customer estates.

"Secure Cloud is built to help partners navigate rising threats, privacy obligations, and operational complexity. With features like automated provisioning, unified billing, and seamless task management in a single, multi-tenant solution, MSPs can scale confidently and efficiently-enabling them to build stronger, profitable, more resilient businesses and gain credibility in the digital economy," Stavridis said.
