Motorola unveils Avigilon Alta SOS to boost emergency response

Yesterday

Motorola Solutions has announced enhancements to its Avigilon security suite with the introduction of the Alta SOS system.

The newly launched Alta SOS feature allows users to communicate critical security information, such as emergency contacts, evacuation plans, utility information, and camera feeds, directly to emergency services. This addition aims to streamline the process of sharing data with first responders in emergency situations.

Senior Vice President for Cloud Video Security & Access Control, Alex Kazerani, highlighted the significance of quick information dissemination. "In high-pressure situations, every second counts. Avigilon Alta SOS helps put vital information in the hands of first responders faster," Mr. Kazerani stated. "Businesses need security solutions that intelligently adapt to rapidly evolving situations at a moment's notice."

The Avigilon suite, which now incorporates Alta SOS, forms part of Motorola's comprehensive enterprise security solutions. The suite includes various technologies, such as video security, access control, intercom systems, and virtual monitoring, to provide robust security measures for businesses.

In addition to Alta SOS, Motorola Solutions also introduced features for Avigilon Unity, designed for large multi-site operations, like critical infrastructure and hospitals. This platform allows users to define and respond to complex video-detected events through detailed user-generated descriptions.

Hamish Dobson, Corporate Vice President of Avigilon Unity at Motorola Solutions, explained the advantages of the system. "The security challenges of large enterprises are complex, but their security systems shouldn't be," Mr. Dobson said. "Avigilon Unity uses large language models to transform raw security data into actionable alerts with the flexibility of natural language."

The enhanced Avigilon Unity platform enables continuous scanning across all cameras in the network, significantly boosting awareness and reducing response times. Security operators can set specific real-time alerts such as "alert me if you see smoke and people running," allowing for immediate action based on live video analysis.

Motorola Solutions aims to address the increasing security threats to enterprises by unifying and enhancing its suite of physical security solutions, thus facilitating better protection for employees, visitors, and assets.

The acquisition of cloud-based visitor management solution provider InVisit is also part of Motorola Solutions' expansion strategy. The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter of 2025, subject to customary closing conditions, and will serve to further integrate security functions within the Avigilon enterprise ecosystem.
