Malwarebytes launches new unified cyber protection platform
Malwarebytes has introduced a new generation of its cyber protection platform, aiming to provide a unified and seamless user experience across desktop and mobile products. The centrepiece of this updated platform is an all-in-one dashboard that features an intuitive assessment score and real-time guidance designed to help users secure their digital identities.
The announcement comes as consumer threats reach unprecedented levels. According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), over 5 million incidents of fraud, identity theft, and other threats were reported in 2023, resulting in losses amounting to USD $10 billion. A recent survey highlighted that 71% of consumers express significant concerns about data leaks and identity theft, with only 18% feeling confident in their online safety and privacy habits.
Mark Beare, General Manager of Consumer at Malwarebytes, commented on the pressing need for comprehensive digital protection. "Today's threats are relentless, coming at consumers in text messages, fake ads, and even spoofed phone calls, leaving most people feeling overwhelmed and unable to distinguish between whether their device, identity, or data needs to be protected," Beare stated. "Instead of individual product offerings, people require comprehensive protection and educational resources that seamlessly integrate across all aspects of their digital lives."
The new platform aims to address these concerns by integrating multiple security functions into a single, easily navigable interface. The enhancements include:
Integrated identity theft protection: Users can now check if their information has been exposed through breaches on the dark web and data brokers using the free Digital Footprint scan. The Malwarebytes Identity Theft Protection service also searches the dark web for personal information, monitors credit reports for suspicious activity, and offers live expert recovery assistance, backed by insurance up to USD $2 million.
Intuitive trusted advisor: This feature provides users with simple guidance to enhance their security, along with educational resources tailored to their digital behaviours. This aims to help individuals navigate their digital lives more safely.
Ultra-fast, no log VPN: With a single click, users can activate the Malwarebytes Privacy VPN, which promises significantly faster speeds compared to traditional VPNs, to protect their online privacy even on public WiFi.
Unified user experience: An all-new, seamless interface across devices aims to give customers better control over their digital security. The dashboard is designed to be faster and more responsive, with simplified account management to easily handle subscriptions, activate privacy and identity protection modules, or update payment methods.
Michael Sherwood, Vice President of Product at Malwarebytes, underscored the platform's holistic approach to digital security. "Scammers are not just coming for devices anymore; they are taking advantage of leaked personal data, and gaining access to email, banking, and social media accounts to steal identities and damage reputations," Sherwood remarked.
"Our new platform creates an easy-to-access ecosystem where individuals can get guidance about how to handle today's attacks. The scalable architecture enables rapid innovation to defend our customers from ever-changing threats."
Malwarebytes Premium Security has earned a perfect score and the Product of the Year award from AVLab for two consecutive years, detecting 100% of malware samples in tests and achieving a 20-second remediation time, 13 seconds faster than the industry average. According to the company, the latest iteration of their platform continues this legacy of robust protection, designed to adapt to the dynamically evolving landscape of cyber threats.
Other elements of the new platform include an integrated identity theft protection system, an intuitive trusted advisor to guide users through their security needs, and an ultra-fast, no-log VPN. These features are all accessible via a unified user experience that aims to simplify digital protection for consumers.
