Hexaware has appointed Raghu Mocherla as Senior Vice President - Digital & Software, giving him responsibility for its Cyber-Physical Software and Systems portfolio within the company's Digital & Software business.
Mocherla will lead strategy for the unit. He will oversee portfolio expansion and business growth. He will also focus on client engagement in areas that link software with connected devices and industrial systems.
The appointment marks a senior hire for Hexaware as it expands work around artificial intelligence and connected systems. The Digital & Software unit concentrates on software-led services that sit across IT, product engineering, and operational technology.
Mocherla brings more than 25 years of experience in technology services. He has a background in product engineering, research and development, and industrial operations. He has worked across several industry verticals, including manufacturing and transportation.
Over the past decade he worked at Capgemini. He served as Industry Head and P&L leader for the Engineering, Research and Development business line in the Americas. He most recently led the industrial manufacturing, automotive, rail, aerospace, and defence sectors and sat on the ER&D Americas Executive Committee.
Cyber-physical focus
Hexaware is increasing its focus on cyber-physical systems. These systems combine physical devices and machinery with software, sensors, connectivity and data platforms. The company is also investing in connected AI at the edge and AI systems engineering.
The Digital & Software business unit aims to support clients that embed software and intelligence into products, platforms and operations. It also addresses projects in industrial modernisation and connected operational data, often described as a digital thread.
As enterprises adopt AI in industrial and operational settings, suppliers are adding services around embedded software, connectivity and analytics. Hexaware positions its cyber-physical and connected AI work in this context.
Announcing the appointment, Sanjay Salunkhe, President and Global Head - Digital & Software Services at Hexaware, said Mocherla's background fitted these priorities.
"Raghu brings a powerful combination of product engineering depth, industrial domain expertise, and a track record of scaling global businesses," said Sanjay Salunkhe, President and Global Head - Digital & Software Services, Hexaware. "As our clients rethink how products, software, and operations come together in an AI-first world, his leadership will be central to sharpening our Digital and Software Services strategy and taking this business to its next phase of growth."
AI and industry
Hexaware describes AI as a driver of convergence between digital and physical environments. The company links this trend with demand for advanced software in products, connected industrial equipment, and automation in operations.
The Digital & Software unit addresses these areas through services in cyber-physical systems, connected AI at the edge, and AI systems engineering. The company states that these services apply in sectors such as industrial manufacturing, automotive, rail, aerospace and defence.
In his previous role at Capgemini, Mocherla oversaw P&L for large engineering accounts. He also worked on business development and client relationships in North America for ER&D customers. That experience underpins Hexaware's aim to expand its presence with industrial and engineering clients.
Mocherla said his new role aligns with a broader shift in how industrial and technology companies buy software and AI services.
Commenting on his appointment, he said, "I'm truly excited to lead Hexaware's next wave of offers and growth in Cyber-Physical Software and Systems. We have a phenomenal opportunity in front of us to position Hexaware as an end-to-end strategic technology services partner that can deliver AI-driven innovation, software solutions, and thought leadership with meaningful outcomes across IT, product engineering, and manufacturing functions for our clients and industry."
Mocherla holds degrees in Computer Science Engineering and Business Management. He is based in Boston and will work with Hexaware's global teams in Digital & Software as the company develops its cyber-physical and connected AI portfolio.
