HCLTech has launched HCLTech Pulse, a new business unit targeting enterprises with annual revenue between USD $500 million and USD $5 billion.

The unit is aimed at businesses trying to move beyond small-scale artificial intelligence projects and broader technology upgrades. It will focus on AI, data, cloud, cybersecurity, engineering and business operations.

The launch comes as many organisations face pressure to show returns on AI spending while updating older systems. In Australia, that pressure has been visible across sectors including financial services, retail and critical infrastructure, where companies have increased investment but still struggle to turn pilot projects into measurable results.

Pulse is intended for companies that have often relied on several specialist suppliers for strategy, platforms, implementation and operations. It is designed to bring those areas together under a single model.

That approach reflects a wider opening in the technology services market. Everest Group estimates the relevant segment at about USD $400 billion globally, with annual growth of 7 to 9 per cent.

Peter Bendor-Samuel, Founder and Executive Chairman, Everest Group, said the segment represents an approximately USD $400 billion global technology services opportunity and is growing at 7 to 9 per cent annually.

"As these organizations move from AI experimentation to scaled deployment, the market will reward providers that combine deep technology expertise with industry context and an integrated delivery model," he said.

For HCLTech, the move marks a push deeper into a tier of clients below the very largest multinationals but with complex technology needs. These businesses often want broad transformation programmes without building large internal teams to manage multiple outside providers.

Pulse will cover AI strategy and implementation, data and AI platforms, cloud transformation, application and enterprise platform modernisation, cybersecurity, engineering services and managed services. The model will also emphasise safety, governance and responsible AI.

C Vijayakumar, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, HCLTech, linked the offering to a wider shift in how companies use AI.

"AI is rewriting the economics of growth. The real advantage goes to enterprises bold enough to reimagine their processes from the ground up, not just automate what already exists, and to do it safely and responsibly," he said. "HCLTech Pulse combines our AI, engineering, cyber, data and industry expertise to help enterprises rethink how work gets done and turn AI investment into measurable business value."

The new unit sits within a company that employs more than 223,000 people across 60 countries. HCLTech reported consolidated revenue of USD $14.8 billion for the 12 months to June 2026.

HCLTech's leadership said the rationale for Pulse came from a market gap among fast-scaling companies. Those organisations need closer senior oversight and more tailored technology support than they often receive from standard service models.

"HCLTech Pulse is our response to a clear, unmet need," said Ashish Kumar Gupta, Global Head, New Business Incubation Group, HCLTech. "HCLTech serves many clients at this stage of scale and understands that the greatest value comes from bringing the right focus, senior attention and platform investments to each client's priorities. HCLTech Pulse brings a sharp focus to simplifying transformation and accelerating time to value, so these organizations can pursue their ambitions with a single, accountable partner."
