Gold Coast facility gains upgraded integrated security & comms

Mon, 7th Jul 2025

PMT Security and Communications has completed a 12-month integrated security and communications project for a critical services facility on the Gold Coast.

Project delivery

The contract was awarded to PMT Security and Communications following a competitive tender process. The selection was based on the company's capacity to deliver both security and communications infrastructure, offering a consolidated point of contact throughout the project.

The client cited the benefits of engaging a single contractor for the full scope of works. "Being able to work with one contractor across the full scope of works simplified the project management side of things significantly, and provided a high level of control," a spokesperson said.

According to PMT Security, the approach resulted in a project that was delivered to specification, within the established timeframe, and according to budget. Aaron Shorter, National Business Development Manager at PMT, stated, "We delivered to a high standard, on time and on budget, providing a single contact point throughout the project."

Project scope

The project covered a broad range of security and communications requirements. PMT Security managed installation and commissioning of electronic access control and intruder detection systems across 40 doors. Additionally, an IP CCTV surveillance system by Avigilon was deployed, which included 40 cameras and a combination of internal, external domes and multi-head units.

Integrated IP-based intercom systems were installed at eight key locations on the site. The infrastructure also included the implementation of over 56,000 metres of Siemon F/UTP CAT6A data cabling with more than 1,300 network outlets, and 600 metres of Siemon OM4 fibre optic cabling to allow for future expansion or upgrades. PMT Security delivered all network and telephony systems, including a full CAT3 telephony rollout, an RF backbone, and MATV distribution for media throughout the facility.

The company highlighted that all equipment met or exceeded the technical specifications required by the client. This included the use of Siemon certified cabling systems, encrypted HID Seos access credentials, and Inner Range standalone access control platforms. CCTV coverage was provided using a Motorola Avigilon system.

Project management and collaboration

PMT Security managed the installation process, which included coordinating with consultants to refine and redesign elements of the infrastructure to increase project efficiency and long-term performance. The project's complexity was addressed by collaborative planning and close adherence to the scheduled milestones, and it was completed within the required deadline and budget targets.

"This project highlights our multi-service delivery capabilities - from design and integration through to final commissioning," said Aaron Shorter. "It's a great example of how we de-risk complex infrastructure jobs by providing a unified, best-in-class solution across both security and communications."

The client noted the standard of workmanship achieved during installation, stating that the new infrastructure was "putting the existing site to shame."

Business context

The company underscored that the success of this project demonstrates its capacity to deliver on large, complex assignments involving a fully integrated approach.

As PMT Communications expands, this Gold Coast project is identified as an example of delivering integrated solutions at an enterprise level and redefining the expectations clients may have for a modern security and communications partner.
