Genetec to host Security Center SaaS on Microsoft Azure in Australia

Tue, 20th Aug 2024

Genetec has announced that its Security Center SaaS will now be hosted in Australia on Microsoft's Azure cloud platform. The move is in response to increasing demand for locally hosted cloud-based physical security technology within the region.

Genetec Security Center SaaS is designed with cybersecurity and privacy at its core. It offers a scalable and open software service that integrates multiple advanced security features, including access control, video management, intrusion monitoring, and automation. With the hosting on Azure, both public and private sector organisations in Australia can leverage this flexible physical security cloud technology. The hosting in Australia aims to provide fast, low-latency access to the solution while ensuring compliance with data sovereignty protocols.

Leon Langlais, Chief Product Officer for APAC at Genetec, commented on the strategic importance of the new hosting location. "Australia is a forward-thinking nation that recognises the benefits of adopting cloud solutions," he said. "Establishing a data centre in this location provides our clients with the confidence that their physical security systems are managed locally. Additionally, by offering Security Center SaaS on Microsoft Azure, we reaffirm our dedication to providing reliable and advanced technology as our customers make their move to the cloud."

Microsoft has expressed its support for this collaboration. Natasha Clohessy, Director of Partner Development at Microsoft Australia, stated, "Microsoft is pleased to collaborate with Genetec to host Security Center SaaS on Microsoft Azure. With Microsoft's strong stance on cybersecurity as well as the IRAP Assessment and cloud flexibility, Genetec can deliver enterprise-grade physical security as a service in Australia."

Australia is now the fourth country to host a Genetec data centre for Security Center SaaS, joining previous locations in the United States, Canada, and the Netherlands. Langlais emphasised the technological synergies between Genetec and Microsoft, stating, "By leveraging the latest in enterprise-ready generative AI and cloud technology, we aim to solve customers' most fundamental security challenges, enhancing the scalability, efficiency, and intelligence of security operations across various industries."

Genetec and Microsoft have maintained a long-standing partnership for over 20 years. Their collaboration has led to various initiatives, including cloud-based go-to-market strategies and the enhancement of workforce skills and capabilities. Genetec holds the highest level of partnership with Microsoft as a Gold Partner.

Security Center SaaS enables organisations to manage workloads efficiently, whether at the edge or on managed appliances. Its open architecture allows for the integration of a wide range of devices, including cameras, door controllers, and readers. Legacy devices that are not cloud-ready can also be connected using a Genetec Cloudlink appliance.

Genetec's portfolio of solutions aims to transform the physical security industry while respecting privacy and enhancing operational efficiency. Its products, including Security Center and Security Center SaaS, unify core physical security functions such as access control, video surveillance, automatic licence plate recognition, intrusion detection, communications, and analytics. The company's extensive network of certified channel partners and consultants serves customers in over 159 countries.
