Genetec retains top global ranking in video surveillance software
Genetec has maintained its leading position in the global video surveillance software market, according to newly published reports from analyst firms Omdia and Novaira Insights.
Omdia's 2025 Video Surveillance & Analytics Database Report shows Genetec retaining its overall number one position worldwide in video surveillance software. The company is also ranked highest in the broader segment encompassing both video surveillance software and Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS).
Omdia has recognised the company's sustained investment in open, scalable, and cybersecure cloud solutions with its addition to the newly introduced VSaaS category. Increasing customer adoption of Security Centre SaaS, released in mid-2024, contributed to Genetec's position within the global top ten for VSaaS. The report placed Genetec at number four in the Americas, reported as the largest and fastest-growing regional market for VSaaS.
Genetec's unified offerings, which include both VSaaS and Access Control as a Service (ACaaS), are cited as experiencing strong momentum. This is in response to greater interest from security professionals in unified, cloud-based deployment models.
Regional market positions
Regionally, Genetec remained the market leader in the Americas for both video surveillance and the combined video surveillance and VSaaS categories. This marks the 14th consecutive year the company has held the top spot in this region. In the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, Genetec maintained its number two position and was highlighted as achieving the highest market share growth among the top ten vendors. In Asia Pacific, Genetec ranked third, according to the Omdia data.
"The video surveillance market continues to see steady global growth, driven by rising security demands and faster adoption of new technologies," said Scott Foley, Senior Analyst, Physical Security at Omdia. "According to our research, Genetec remains a consistent global leader in the industry for video surveillance software, maintaining top market share and addressing customer needs with innovative products that meet the evolving needs of organisations worldwide."
Separate analysis by Novaira Insights further confirmed Genetec's position as the global market leader in total video surveillance software and service agreements. Novaira noted that Genetec was among the highest-growth vendors, both in hardware and software, within its report.
Customer solutions and flexibility
"The Genetec philosophy has always been to offer customers more choice, not less," said Christian Morin, Vice President of Product Engineering and Chief Security Officer at Genetec. "Organisations deserve the flexibility to deploy solutions exactly the way they want, whether it's on-premises, in the cloud, or a combination of both approaches – this applies equally to both video surveillance and access control. At Genetec, we develop solutions that give customers this freedom, including the ability to choose the best cameras, appliances, and access control hardware for their needs without ever being locked into proprietary systems."
The reports underline the rising demand from customers for solutions that enhance physical security operations and align with organisational needs for cloud, on-premises, or hybrid deployments. Genetec's ongoing strategy has focused on anticipating customer requirements and supporting open, unified systems designed with cybersecurity and privacy in mind.
Analyst commentary in both reports describes the company's year-on-year organic growth as steady, and largely attributable to its continued commitment to the principles of system openness, unified architecture, and privacy protection. The company's policy has been to avoid forcing customers into specific hardware or software environments, instead offering a range of integration choices across its Security Centre SaaS and related products.
Genetec continues to market its products to enterprises, government agencies, and other organisations globally, supporting video management, access control, and other security functions. The company operates through channels and partners spanning more than 159 countries.
