Genetec completes IRAP assessment for cloud security in Oz

Mon, 17th Feb 2025

Genetec has successfully completed an Infosec Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessment by CyberCX, a firm endorsed by the Australian Government, enhancing its capability to offer cloud-based physical security solutions to Australian government agencies and critical infrastructure providers.

This assessment allows government agencies to adopt Genetec's Security Center SaaS, hosted on Microsoft Azure in Australia.

Security Center SaaS provides a comprehensive platform that combines access control, video management, intrusion monitoring, automation, and more into a single framework. Additionally, agencies now have access to Genetec AutoVu Cloudrunner, a tool using automated license plate recognition technology for vehicle-related investigations.

The IRAP assessment confirmed Genetec's strong cybersecurity posture and operational maturity, thereby opening new business avenues for certified partners of Genetec in Australia.

These partners can now offer a reliable range of physical security solutions aimed at improving situational awareness, decision-making, and cyber protection for governmental bodies.

"Undertaking an IRAP assessment to the OFFICIAL:Sensitive level reflects our ongoing commitment to meeting the security requirements set by the Australian Government," said George Moawad, Country Manager for Oceania at Genetec.

"We look forward to continuing to collaborate with government agencies, as well as our channel partners, to deliver cloud-based physical security solutions suited for complex environments."

The IRAP assessment, conducted by CyberCX's ACSC-endorsed assessors, involved a detailed evaluation of product documentation, technical configurations, and operational procedures against the Information Security Manual (ISM), as revised in September 2024.

The assessment included on-site technical interviews at Genetec's headquarters in Montreal, Canada, to ensure compliance and operational efficiency with ISM requirements.
