Fortinet and Tracer Cloud innovate in scalability using AWS security architecture
Tue, 12th Oct 2021
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Fortinet and partner Tracer Cloud have been working with GROW, looking to innovate further using AWS security architecture.

GROW says by working with Tracer Cloud, it could further innovate and firm up its security posture. GROW has built a distributed ledger-based superannuation platform based on blockchain to protect customers sensitive information.

"The challenge for GROW was to achieve solid security architecture to address key security concerns efficiently, appropriately, and according to the business's risk profile," says Tracer Cloud, cloud security architect, Raznal Yap.

"GROW needed its architecture to support the goal of getting to market fast with a secure solution. Tracer Cloud selected Fortinet's FortiGate-VM series because of its security capabilities and the fact that it fits into multiple architectures and scales easily."

Tracer Cloud deployed a set of existing cloud architecture templates for the implementation process. As a born-in-the-cloud company, Tracer Cloud is focused on delivering cloud-based security services. It uses a set of architecture templates with built-in security. These can be configured according to customers' requirements.

This approach means Tracer Cloud can develop and deploy solutions quickly while following a customers' DevOps processes and pipelines. The company says it designed and deployed GROW's AWS cloud and security architecture in days rather than the weeks or even months it would have taken with a different vendor.

"The enterprise cloud platform was functioning in two days and ready for APRA CPS234 control review within that short period," says Yap.

"This provided a very quick time to value for GROW. The business didn't have to worry about infrastructure, networking or security foundations; it could focus on application development and prepare for its go-to-market."

GROW chief technology officer, David Baxter, says protecting customer data and having fully compliant cloud architecture is extremely important for GROW.

"Working with Tracer Cloud and implementing the Fortinet solution on AWS gave GROW the peace of mind that our security solution was robust enough to protect sensitive data reliably and would help us get to market sooner."

Tracer Cloud has automated the process, allowing it to deploy the solution to any customer rapidly. It says this has removed the burden of platform architecture and security from the customer.

Yap says Tracer Cloud will continue to support GROW internal teams with cloud security, DevOps and data analytics engineers.

Fortinet Cloud and alliances manager, Simon Bray, says Tracer Cloud is heavily focused on delivering cloud-based security services and leads with Fortinet solutions. Tracer Cloud is one of the first specialised partners for Fortinet in the Asia-Pacific region.
