Exabeam Nova adds peer benchmarking to boost security posture

Thu, 2nd Oct 2025

Exabeam has introduced security posture benchmarking capabilities for CISOs and security leaders within Exabeam Nova, enabling anonymous comparison of security operations against peer organisations.

Security teams can utilise the new benchmarking features to compare their security posture using configurable parameters including industry, region and company size. This aims to assist security operations centres (SOCs) in identifying strengths, isolating gaps and prioritising areas for improvement based on empirical, real-world data.

The benchmarking capability is powered by Exabeam Nova Advisor Agent within the Outcomes Navigator module. It analyses threat detection telemetry and configuration data, assessing coverage against MITRE ATT&CK techniques and other practical use cases. These results are then compared against peer organisations, updating scores on an ongoing basis to reflect operational maturity in security.

This data-driven approach is designed to help security teams prioritise their resources, justify investments, demonstrate value, and align operational activities with broader strategic objectives. SOC teams gain the ability to understand their posture in the context of the wider industry, quantify their progress, and communicate findings to a range of stakeholders, including executive leadership and board members.

"Security teams are done playing defence. With this release, we're giving them the tools to go on offense," said Steve Wilson, Chief AI and Product Officer at Exabeam. "We've turned benchmarking into operational data that drives smarter decisions, tighter attack and use case coverage, and faster action. In just six months, we've moved from launch to delivering capabilities others are still sketching on whiteboards. This is proactive security in motion."

Chris O'Malley, Chief Executive Officer at Exabeam, underscored that the update goes beyond technological advancement for its own sake.

"This release reflects our unbridled commitment to innovation that delivers real, measurable value for our customers," he said. "We're not innovating for the sake of headlines - we're building capabilities that solve the hardest challenges security leaders face. With benchmarking now embedded into Exabeam Nova, we're empowering our customers to lead with data, drive strategic outcomes, and operate with clarity and confidence. It's a redefining moment for Exabeam, and for the future of security operations committed to continuous improvement."

Operational enhancements

This quarter's release includes business-aware risk scoring, enabling SOC teams to assess and prioritise threats based on potential business impact. By allowing detection rule severity to be customised as low, medium, high, or critical, the system can reduce alert fatigue and enhance the accuracy of incident triage. The function is expected to focus analyst time and resources on incidents that matter most to the organisation's security posture.

In addition, new and expanded partnerships have been announced. Integrations with Cribl and DataBahn provide organisations with enhanced data ingestion solutions, helping to lower storage and search costs while maintaining the fidelity required for detection and regulatory compliance.

Exabeam has also strengthened its collaboration with Google Cloud.

By introducing agent behaviour analytics, the platform brings insider threat detection to artificial intelligence agents using telemetry from Google Agentspace and Google Cloud Model Armour. This enables companies to monitor digital insiders and defend against hybrid threats, reflecting the evolving landscape of cybersecurity risks.

Industry feedback

Adoption of benchmarking capabilities has been met positively by customers and partners.

Nithin Reddy, Global VP of Cybersecurity at Dayforce, commented, "As a data-driven leader, I've often had to guess how our coverage compared to others. With peer benchmarking embedded in Exabeam Nova, we now have real-time context grounded in industry frameworks to measure, communicate, and continuously strengthen our detection security posture - turning metrics into meaningful defence."

Marco de Vries, Business Development Manager at Deltics, added, "Exabeam Nova in Outcomes Navigator finally gives us a benchmark we can trust. We can show exactly how a customer stacks up against their industry, validate the maturity of their program, and point to where improvements should be made. That kind of clarity builds real confidence. What I like about Exabeam is that every quarter they bring something new that actually matters, and this release is another example of innovation that makes a difference for us and our customers."

Gareth Pritchard, CTO at Sapphire, remarked, "Lots of vendors talk about partnerships, but Exabeam has consistently proven it over the years. The technical enablement has been first class, the platform itself has been first class, and the collaboration on the roadmap has been first class."

"We've always felt like true partners working toward the same outcome-delivering top-quality security services. With Exabeam Nova in Outcomes Navigator, that partnership is now giving us even more strategic value. We can benchmark against industry peers and identify further enhancements to ensure client security postures keep pace with the evolving threats. That kind of visibility is exactly what our customers have been asking for, and we couldn't deliver it without Exabeam."

Carlos Alanís, Co-Founder and CEO at Banyax, noted, "We manage more customers using the Exabeam New-Scale Security Operations Platform than any other MSSP globally, so an update like this is extremely exciting both for our clients and for our own organisation. With the new benchmarking embedded within Exabeam Nova, I'm walking into board meetings with data-backed insights that clearly show where we're strong, where we're improving, and where investments are still needed. Now I don't just tell fellow executives that the SOC services we provide are excellent - I prove it."

Victor Beltran, CTO at Banyax, said, "With the new benchmarking in Exabeam Nova, our team gets real-time context that tells us not just what's missing, but how our organisation and our end customers stack up against peers and competitors. It's like having an internal GPS for threat detection maturity. We can focus our time on closing meaningful gaps and delivering best-in-class security instead of second-guessing what matters."

The benchmarking functionality, along with other updates in this release, is now available to all users of Exabeam Nova as part of the wider New-Scale Security Operations Platform suite.
