ESET unveils enhanced home security to combat identity theft

Fri, 22nd Nov 2024

ESET has launched its upgraded consumer offering, ESET HOME Security, introducing new features aimed at combating identity theft and enhancing overall security capabilities.

The company has made these enhancements in response to the increasing number of advanced, automated, and AI-driven threats targeting individuals. ESET HOME Security addresses growing concerns about data privacy, ransomware attacks, phishing, and scams in today's digital landscape.

ESET HOME Security remains accessible through ESET HOME, a security management platform compatible with all major operating systems including Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. The upgraded solution is designed to offer enhanced protection for entire households and can be used across typical smart home devices.

"With the launch of our upgraded ESET HOME Security, we are reaffirming our commitment to protecting consumers in an increasingly complex digital landscape. Our new features, including Dark Web Monitoring, empower individuals to safeguard their personal information and enjoy a peace of mind while navigating online. ESET remains dedicated to staying one step ahead of cyber threats, ensuring that our users are well-protected against identity theft, ransomware, and more," said Parvinder Walia, ESET President for Asia Pacific and Japan.

Amongst the new features, Dark Web Monitoring involves ESET Identity Protection scouring websites on the dark web and other data sources to detect the illegal trading and selling of users' personal information, promptly alerting users so they can take immediate action.

Another addition is ESET Folder Guard, which helps protect the valuable data of Windows users from threats such as ransomware, worms, and wipers. Users can create a list of protected folders where files cannot be modified or deleted by untrusted applications.

Multithread Scanning has been improved to enhance scanning performance for devices with multi-core processors using Windows. It works by distributing scanning requests among available CPU cores.

The new Link Scanner feature enhances ESET Mobile Security's Anti-Phishing ability by checking every link a user attempts to open, adding an additional layer of protection for Android users.

Gamer Mode has also been improved to cater to users seeking uninterrupted software usage. Users can now automatically start Gamer Mode for selected apps and display interactive alerts even when the mode is running.

The Password Manager feature now offers the option to remotely log out on other devices and includes security reports for checking password strength and breaches. It also integrates third-party programs for two-factor authentication.

For Mac users, the improved Cyber Security provides a unified Firewall with both basic and advanced setup options in the main interface, aiming to meet the diverse needs of users without unnecessary settings.

This comprehensive security product is marketed as a solution catering to concerns beyond general cybersecurity, with features covering privacy protection, identity protection, performance optimisation, device protection, and smart home protection.
