ESET-DESlock acquisition pays off in data encryption test
A new business encryption test by AV-Comparatives has named ESET’s encryption solution the leading product on the market for SMBs.
The solution, DESlock + Pro, reportedly outperformed four other mainstream enterprise encryption products.
David Tomlinson, manager of ESET’s DESlock business unit says encryption is an important part of SME protection.
“The need for better encryption services has never been more important for SMEs and we’re proud to offer a leading solution that is used by innovative SMEs, and is now recognised by AV-Comparatives,” he says.
According to ESET, system drive and removable media encryption will be part of an important strategy for all businesses going forward, no matter what their size.
This is supported by the fact that the European Union made major changes to the General Data Protection Regulations to include encryption. Those regulations come into effect from May next year.
This could potentially affect not only EU SMBs, but anyone who has dealings with EU nations.
“Given the growing importance of IT and data security, this is the first time AV-Comparatives has conducted a test on business encryption. We were impressed with the capabilities of ESET’s DESlock Encryption and suggest it is an ideal solution for SMBs and SMEs looking for an effective, user-friendly encryption solution,” comments Andreas Clementi, CEO at AV-Comparatives.
AV-Comparatives found that the ESET solution provides a full range of encryption options, is well suited to all businesses, uses a single installation wizard, easy user assignment to encrypted data, simple to use and easy to navigate.
ESET believes that data security will need to be prioritised in the coming years to adapt to the threat landscape.
“At ESET, we’ve developed effective and accessible encryption solutions tailored specifically to SMEs, not only to ensure they comply with data security regulations around the world, but to protect businesses and their most sensitive data.”
ESET acquired DESlock in July 2015 after a two-year technology partnership between both companies.
