Dynatrace attains Australian PROTECTED security status
Mon, 4th Mar 2024

Dynatrace, the unified observability and security company, confirmed today that it has attained the Australian Government security status of PROTECTED, having successfully completed an assessment conducted by an Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessor.

Performed by Sekuro, a preeminent cybersecurity and digital transformation company, this evaluation now permits Dynatrace to extend its services to Australian government customers through the Dynatrace Platform. The platform offers AI-powered observability, automation, and optimisation for intricate cloud environments, thus enhancing performance, security, and user experience.

Simultaneously, this will supplement Dynatrace's support to companies in Australia across various sectors such as financial services, utilities, and telecommunications to meet the cybersecurity standards mandated by government agencies.

The IRAP assessment process, as detailed in the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM), stipulates that departments must seek validation of security platforms and tools provided by external vendors before adoption. It confirms that all data that the Dynatrace Platform collects and processes meets the protected level requirements prescribed in the June 2023 ISM version.

Securing this assessment facilitates Dynatrace's provision of support to internal IT teams. This will allow them to fortify their end-to-end infrastructure and align with strict security and compliance standards essential for secure and seamless digital interactions, and drive digital transformation schemes on a grand scale.

"The successful completion of this IRAP assessment now allows us to expand our ability to work with both public sector organisations and commercial businesses which require the higher PROTECTED status to have been reached," said Rafi Katanasho, Chief Technology Officer and VP of Solution Engineering APAC at Dynatrace. "We'll now be able to provide the robust cloud capabilities they require to gain accurate and informed data insight in real time to make better business decisions."

The evaluation period, which spanned from September 2023 to January 2024, had Sekuro collaborating with key Dynatrace stakeholders to carry out the assessment. The study included a review of documentation, technical configuration reviews, observations of core processes, remote interviews, and mandatory evidence gathering.

Rob Lowe, Senior Consultant and IRAP assessor at Sekuro, who spearheaded the assessment process, commends the achievement of Dynatrace. He states that the new PROTECTED status affirms that the Dynatrace SaaS platform, built on Amazon Web Services (AWS), is designed and functioning effectively to meet the requirements articulated in the June 2023 ISSM version.

In conclusion, Katanasho noted, "For several years now, the Australian Government has been adopting a cloud-first strategy. These organisations are constantly aiming to reinforce their cybersecurity posture while at the same time enhancing the level of service delivered to citizens. Dynatrace looks forward to working with them to fully discover the real benefits of the value in their cloud investment through advanced observability, AI, and automation."
