Commvault integrates enhanced backup for Microsoft 365 platform

Thu, 1st Aug 2024

Commvault has announced an upgraded integration for their cloud platform designed to enhance cyber resilience and recovery capabilities for Microsoft 365 users. The newly introduced Microsoft 365 Backup Storage component will be integrated into Commvault's Cloud Backup and Recovery service for Microsoft 365, offering a simplified and unified control system for users.

The Commvault Cloud platform, which is constructed on Microsoft Azure, will now allow joint customers to deploy the combined solution known as Commvault Cloud with Premium Microsoft 365 Backup Storage. The inclusion of this service aims to augment cyber resilience while providing a single-pane-of-glass control, facilitating easier administration and maintaining a low total cost of ownership (TCO).

According to Commvault, this enhanced solution is tailored to empower enterprises by enabling them to employ Microsoft 365 Backup Storage for quick and comprehensive point-in-time recovery of critical Microsoft 365 data and workloads. The offering encompasses protection capabilities across multiple Microsoft 365 applications, including Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint. Users can expect selectable and configurable extended retention options, granular recovery features, and self-restore functionalities, allowing them to choose the appropriate protection and recovery level for their specific workloads.

Commvault's Chief Technology Officer, Tirthankar Chatterjee, commented on the enhancement, saying, "We are building on our 27+ years of co-development and co-engineering with this integrated solution that helps customers achieve the highest level of cyber resilience and threat readiness, along with the ability to greatly improve recovery time to specific Microsoft 365 workloads. We're excited about the advantages and efficiencies the combined solution brings to our joint customers and partners."

Zach Rosenfield, Partner Director of PM for Collaborative Apps and Platforms at Microsoft, also remarked on the collaboration, stating, "With this integration, Commvault has taken a major step in helping our joint customers keep their business running with fast operational recovery from cyberattacks. We look forward to continuing to work together with them to make customers' data more resilient."

The enhanced Commvault Cloud Backup and Recovery for Microsoft 365 solution is anticipated to be available later this quarter. The company encourages interested parties to stay informed through their podcast and blog, which offer further insights into achieving total cyber resilience with Commvault and Microsoft.

Commvault aims to support more than 100,000 organisations in maintaining data safety and business continuity with this integration. The company asserts that their platform delivers top-tier data security and rapid recovery at an enterprise scale, across various workloads and locations, at a competitive TCO.
