BeyondTrust unveils free assessment to expose hidden identity risks

Today

BeyondTrust has launched its new Identity Security Risk Assessment, a free service developed to help organisations identify and address vulnerabilities stemming from their identity infrastructure.

This service is designed to address the growing complexity of identity landscapes, which increasingly span cloud, hybrid, and on-premise environments. With the rise in identities, accounts, and entitlements, many organisations face difficulty managing identity-related risks, a situation underscored by data showing 90% of organisations experienced some form of identity-related incident in the past year.

The Identity Security Risk Assessment aims to uncover "hidden Paths to Privilege" within a company's environment by analysing crucial elements of the identity infrastructure. It promptly delivers a set of prioritised findings to help IT and security leaders make informed decisions regarding their organisation's risk exposure.

According to BeyondTrust, the service features rapid deployment and broad compatibility, connecting to various identity landscapes within an hour. It supports integrations with identity providers (IdPs), prominent cloud platforms, and on-premises solutions such as Active Directory, Entra ID, Okta, and Ping configurations.

Once connected, the assessment provides a comprehensive analysis within 24 hours, presenting organisations with a detailed view of their entire identity attack surface from an attacker's perspective. The system highlights high-risk identities, unused accounts, and demonstrates potential routes attackers could use to elevate privileges.

Sam Elliott, Senior Vice President of Products at BeyondTrust, commented on the company's approach: "At BeyondTrust, our mission is to fight every day to secure identities, intelligently remediate threats, and deliver dynamic access to empower and protect organisations around the world. We understand many organisations are struggling to grasp their identity risk exposure, and to that end, our new, Identity Security Risk Assessment allows companies to better understand and identify potential identity risk, all without the costs normally associated with such services."

The newly launched assessment is powered by BeyondTrust's Identity Security Insights, a solution that aggregates identity-related data and uses artificial intelligence-based detection to highlight hidden vulnerabilities and possible privilege escalations. The company intends that by offering this service freely, more organisations will gain access to insights that could help bolster their security posture.

The launch comes as organisations worldwide seek ways to address threats linked to the use and management of digital identities. As attackers increasingly exploit identity-related weaknesses, businesses face mounting pressure to understand and secure their identity attack surface across disparate environments and platforms.

BeyondTrust positions its latest offering as a means to assist companies in discovering potential vulnerabilities at no immediate financial outlay. The focus on delivering actionable insights is intended to allow organisations to address identity-based risks quickly before they are exploited by threat actors.

The complimentary nature of the assessment reflects a wider trend in cybersecurity, where firms are aiming to democratise access to critical security tools and intelligence, ensuring firms of all sizes can assess and reduce their risks in an evolving threat landscape.
