Arctic Wolf expands free Cyber JumpStart Portal for all businesses

Thu, 8th Aug 2024

Arctic Wolf has announced the availability of its Cyber JumpStart Portal to businesses, aiming to help them manage cyber risk and improve insurability at no cost. The expansion allows businesses of all sizes to access cyber risk management tools designed to identify gaps in cybersecurity readiness and provide insights to reduce cyber risk.

Launched initially in 2023 for insurance carriers and brokers' clients, the portal supports a global network of authorised brokers and carriers, assisting over 40,000 organisations. The portal helps businesses start their security journey, particularly in qualifying for cyber insurance. According to Forrester, only 26% of businesses currently have a standalone cyber insurance policy.

Arctic Wolf's Cyber JumpStart Portal leverages threat intelligence data obtained from the company's globally deployed Security Operations Cloud and insights from its Concierge Security Team. The portal offers a cybersecurity starter package enabling businesses to review their security posture, identify necessary improvements, and enhance their chances of qualifying for cyber insurance.

Features accessible via the Cyber JumpStart Portal include:

  • Cyber Resilience Assessment Lite: This tool allows businesses to map their security posture against industry-standard frameworks such as NIST CSF 1.1, 2.0, and CIS Critical Security Controls v8, offering a transparent rating system independent of proprietary risk assessment tools.
  • Arctic Wolf Insurability Rating: Integrated within the Cyber Resilience Assessment Lite tool, it offers businesses a cyber insurance rating that simplifies qualification and renewals. This can be used during insurance applications and renewals, providing artefacts of support for self-attestations.
  • Incident Response (IR) Planner Lite: Facilitates the collection of critical information needed to initiate incident response engagements, often required for obtaining cyber insurance. The IR plan can be quickly updated, is securely stored off-network, and is accessible to plan owners and IR teams during a cyber incident.
  • JumpStart Guides: Provides security resources and guided expertise on implementing security controls typically required to obtain and retain cyber insurance, ensuring the continuation of necessary work to maintain cybersecurity readiness.

Dan Schiappa, Chief Product and Services Officer at Arctic Wolf, commented on the expansion: “When we first launched Cyber JumpStart Portal, we solidified our partnership with the insurance brokers and carriers on the front lines of delivering insurability requirements to their clients. Based on the positive feedback and growing interest in the program, we are expanding access to businesses of almost any size. We’re inviting organisations to take the first step of their security journey to increase insurability and enhance risk management outcomes.”

The expanded access to the Cyber JumpStart Portal enables prospective customers to begin their security journey at no cost. Partners can leverage this expansion to discuss cyber resilience and incident response plans with prospective customers as they start their security journey. For existing customers, Arctic Wolf will continue to deliver an experience via the Unified Portal.
