Dynatrace recently revealed the major technological challenges confronting organisations across various sectors in the APAC region, including banking and finance, consulting, IT service, education and government. This was following a survey of technology professionals conducted by Dynatrace.

The survey revealed that the greatest challenge faced by over half of the respondents (59%) is effectively utilising their current IT infrastructure to support growth. Skills shortage and talent acquisition emerged as a considerable hurdle for 23% of the participants, while 5% saw maintaining a solid cyber security posture as the prime issue.

Rafi Katanasho, APAC Chief Technology Officer at Dynatrace, shed light on the intricacies of this issue. He said, "The growing complexity of modern hybrid and multicloud infrastructure coupled with a lack of available talent and skills shortages are making it increasingly challenging for organisations to manage and maintain the optimal performance of their digital services."

Katanasho went on to add that several companies are tackling these challenges through a do-it-yourself approach, integrating multiple monitoring and automation tools. However, he warned, "the cracks are starting to show in this fragmented and highly manual approach."

When asked about the most significant obstacle to innovation, half the respondents pointed to the complex landscape of technologies within their IT ecosystem. Legacy technologies impacted 20% of the surveyed individuals. To combat these issues, organisations need platforms that are scalable, open and collaborative, as well as teams that work harmoniously to drive innovation securely and speedily.

Katanasho elaborated on the potential solution, "Today, cloud analytics platforms can help organisations to better unleash the power of data in three key areas: people, processes, and technology. However, organisations need a platform that can unify the enormous volume and variety of observability and security data from their ecosystems. This unified platform approach will help eliminate any data silos that might exist. In addition, it will deliver the insights and automation required to optimise complex hybrid and multicloud environments and accelerate the delivery of flawless and secure innovation."

Katanasho concluded, "It's clear that the organisations that will lead in the new data economy will be those that outperform their peers when it comes to the process areas of alignment, governance, and collaboration."
