Traceable AI unveils early access to Generative AI API Security capabilities

Tue, 14th May 2024

Traceable AI, a prominent name in the API security realm, has made a groundbreaking announcement – the launch of an Early Access Program for their innovative Generative AI API Security capabilities. This pioneering endeavour addresses the ever-evolving security challenges of incorporating Generative AI, particularly Large Language Models (LLMs), into critical applications.

Generative AI, such as LLMs, becoming an integral part of key applications is no longer the exception but fast becoming the rule. But this progress isn't without its pitfalls. As enterprises consistently integrate these technologies into their infrastructure, they simultaneously expose their applications to attacks exploiting AI's unique characteristics. These security breaches range from prompt injection, insecure outputs to the pernicious exposure of sensitive data. Traceable AI offers a direct remedy to these pressing cybersecurity issues, ensuring the security of APIs that facilitate connections between LLMs, other services, and users.

In essence, this new iteration of Traceable's comprehensive API security platform specifically aims to mitigate the security risks inherent to integrating Generative AI into applications. The system boasts a range of key features and capabilities designed to cater to a spectrum of security needs. A dedicated Generative AI API Security Dashboard provides a comprehensive overview of the security status of Generative AI APIs within applications. This feature is complemented by the Discovery and Cataloging of Generative AI APIs, which enables an extensive exploration and cataloging of such APIs, thereby ensuring a full evaluation of the API ecosystem.

Crucial for maintaining robust security are the system's provisions for rigorous LLM API Vulnerability Testing, aiding in the identification and mitigation of vulnerabilities unique to LLM applications. Monitoring of Traffic to and from LLM APIs is ensured through real-time surveillance and analysis, facilitating a speedy detection and response to emerging threats. Additional mechanisms for identifying and blocking sensitive data flows to Generative AI APIs are part and parcel of Traceable's approach, thus strategically protecting crucial data assets.

Such proactive detection of Vulnerabilities and threats outlined in the OWASP LLM Top 10 are of paramount importance in the current environment. The system can identify and block threats in the OWASP LLM Top 10, including prompt injection, sensitive data exposure, insecure output handling, and model denial of service.

Sanjay Nagaraj, co-founder and CTO at Traceable, affirmed the significance of these capabilities. "Ensuring the security of applications powered by Generative AI and Large Language Models is crucial in todays organisations," he said. "With our Generative AI API Security capabilities, we support enterprises in embracing AI's potential whilst securing their API ecosystem."

Nagaraj added: "Having closely collaborated with our customers, we are acutely aware of the crucial importance of addressing the unique security challenges posed by LLM-powered applications." Reflecting the excitement around this development, he highlighted, "We are delighted to offer organisations the tools they need to navigate the complexities of AI-driven innovation with confidence and trust."

As the sole API security platform to offer end-to-end Generative AI API security capabilities, Traceable stands in a league of its own. The Traceable platform monitors all API transactions and analyses them with its OmniTrace Engine, offering the panoramic context needed for API threat detection, investigation, and response. This in-depth application and API context comprehension is essential to effectively detect LLM security threats – a unique capability that Traceable proudly possesses.
