SmartHUB delivers cloud-native, secure archiving for compliance

Today

Smart Communications has launched SmartHUB, a cloud-native digital archiving solution designed to help businesses manage and access large volumes of communications and archived data, while supporting operational efficiency and compliance requirements.

SmartHUB builds upon technology acquired through Smart Communications' April 2025 purchase of digital archiving provider Joisto, and has now been fully integrated into the firm's Conversation Cloud platform. The solution is intended to address the challenges businesses face as they manage growing data volumes and increasingly complex regulatory obligations.

Centralising data

SmartHUB is positioned to enable businesses to centralise their customer interactions, making it easier to streamline compliance, reduce operational complexity, and maintain data security. The platform integrates archival capabilities with cloud-native technology, offering scalable access to mission-critical communications and customer data across sectors such as financial services, insurance, telecommunications, and utilities.

"By harnessing the power of cloud-native technology, we're enabling our customers to stay ahead of an increasingly complex and fast-moving regulatory environment, while significantly reducing operational risk, simplifying system complexity, and strengthening data security," said Leigh Segall, CEO at Smart Communications. "Just as we've redefined how enterprises manage customer communications and forms with modern, scalable solutions, we're now doing the same for archiving—giving organisations a trusted path to move away from legacy systems. SmartHUB will fundamentally transform how organisations store, access, and protect their most critical communications and customer data assets, unlocking new value that was previously out of reach."

The company has stated that SmartHUB is designed to work across multiple sectors and regions, assisting businesses in complying with varying industry regulations. The system offers immutable, audit-ready storage and detailed audit trails, with retention rule configurations that can be managed across jurisdictions. It aligns with requirements covering GDPR, ISO 14641, and WCAG 2.1 Level AA, supporting enterprises in automating retention policies, tracking document lineage, and responding efficiently to audits or legal requests.

Jim Lundy, Founder and CEO at Aragon Research, commented on the broadening of Smart Communications' platform capabilities. "SmartHUB expands the Smart Communications value proposition significantly, offering a more complete end-to-end platform for managing the entire customer conversation, from creation and delivery to long-term, compliant storage and retrieval. It differentiates Smart Communications in a competitive market by directly addressing a critical pain point for its core customer base."

Integration and compliance

SmartHUB includes flexible APIs and supports enterprise-level configuration management, allowing integration with other business systems such as ERP, CRM, and HR platforms. This approach embeds compliance within core operational workflows, supporting functions from customer service to litigation management. By connecting multiple business teams, SmartHUB is designed to reduce friction and latency when responding to service requests, customer queries, or external compliance obligations.

For organisations facing increasing communication demands and needing fast, secure access to archived data, SmartHUB offers scalability and speed. The system supports ingestion speeds of up to one million documents per hour.

"SmartHUB was designed to meet the demands of today's communications landscape—where speed, security, and compliance are non-negotiable. With ingestion speeds of up to one million documents per hour and a cloud-native architecture, it eliminates the need for hardware while ensuring scalable, always-on access to critical data," said Simon Tindal, CTO at Smart Communications. "As AI transforms how archived communications are used—whether for real-time decisioning, self-service, or context-rich customer interactions—SmartHUB ensures that high-volume data is not just stored, but instantly retrievable and audit-ready."

Sector application

Smart Communications has indicated that SmartHUB has already demonstrated success within sectors such as financial services, insurance, telecommunications, and utilities. The company identified organisations with high communications volume, complex compliance requirements, or extensive customer service operations as key beneficiaries. By integrating with other tools in the Conversation Cloud, SmartHUB aims to provide teams a secure and unified environment for the creation, management, and retrieval of archived communications.

The introduction of SmartHUB reflects the company's efforts to enable regulated businesses to modernise compliance processes, manage customer interactions at scale, and adapt to changes in technology and regulation.
