Rubrik collaborates with Red Hat for OpenShift support

Today

Rubrik has announced a collaboration with Red Hat to support Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization on Rubrik Security Cloud, with general availability expected in early 2025.

Rubrik Security Cloud, in conjunction with Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, aims to assist organisations in migrating and protecting virtual machines and applications on a consistent and comprehensive application platform. The partnership facilitates the protection of data by supporting cyber resilience, faster data recovery, and enhanced IT infrastructure reliability.

Data security is critical in today's digital environment. A recent report from Rubrik Zero Labs, "State of Data Security: Measuring Your Data's Risk," highlighted that attackers attempted to compromise backups in 96% of their attacks, with at least partial success in 74% of these incidents.

Arvind Nithrakashyap, Chief Technology Officer at Rubrik, commented, "Our collaboration with Red Hat reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting our customers' virtualised environments and cyber-proofing their virtual machines. With capabilities that can proactively secure data, stay resilient against cyberattacks, and safeguard business continuity, Rubrik Security Cloud is a perfect match for organisations running virtual machines and applications on the trusted application platform, Red Hat OpenShift."

The integration of Rubrik Security Cloud with Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization is intended to provide a unified platform that automates protection, facilitates data backup, and accelerates data access. It allows organisations to streamline data management workflows and apply a single service level agreement policy globally for greater consistency across data centres, clouds, and SaaS applications.

OpenShift Virtualization, a feature of Red Hat OpenShift, allows users to manage virtual machines and container workloads within a unified platform, enhancing the deployment, scaling, and orchestration of applications. The inclusion of the migration toolkit for virtualization enables businesses to migrate virtual machines at scale, making it easier to access workloads while also developing cloud-native applications.

Mike Barrett, Vice President and General Manager of Hybrid Platforms at Red Hat, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration, stating, "As part of a comprehensive hybrid cloud application platform, Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization offers a streamlined path to infrastructure modernization for organizations to more easily build and deploy applications at scale. We are pleased to collaborate with Rubrik to allow OpenShift Virtualization customers access to the backup and resiliency services Rubrik provides."

With Zero Trust Data Security, Rubrik helps organisations achieve business resilience against cyber attacks, malicious insiders, and operational disruptions. Rubrik Security Cloud, powered by machine learning, secures data across enterprise, cloud, and SaaS applications.
