Rapid7 named leader in 2024 IDC report for SIEM SMB sector

Wed, 11th Sep 2024

Rapid7 has taken stage as a leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide SIEM for SMB 2024. The recognition highlights Rapid7's extended risk and threat detection capabilities, specifically through its InsightIDR solution.

Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) technology is critical for the functioning of security operations centres (SOCs), particularly for monitoring, compliance, threat detection, and incident response. For small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs), the complexity and operational expense of traditional SIEMs can often become a significant challenge. Rapid7 appears to overcome these hurdles with its user-friendly pricing model and ease of implementation.

The IDC MarketScape report emphasised several strengths of Rapid7’s approach. It stated, "Pricing is per asset, not based on ingest, so customers find it easy to understand what they are paying," and added, "Customers like the ease of implementation and Rapid7's research team, which follows the attack vectors and threat groups. The company's threat intelligence shows up in InsightIDR making sure it stays up to date."

InsightIDR, a cloud-native, SaaS-based solution, can be deployed swiftly, sometimes within a day.

This deployment is bolstered by insights from Rapid7's Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service, open-source community, and internal threat intelligence teams. InsightIDR provides a unified view of logs, users, endpoints, and network data from across modern environments, aiding in early threat detection and the initiation of appropriate responses.

Craig Adams, chief product officer at Rapid7, remarked, "With InsightIDR, teams of any size can quickly get started cutting through the complexity and noise to accelerate detection and response with reliable alerts, high-context investigations, and automation. In other words, no more shelfware."

"We believe that being recognised as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape Worldwide SIEM for SMB reflects our strong customer satisfaction in the capabilities InsightIDR provides them, plus it acknowledges that we have a strategy in place to continue the product’s momentum for unwavering customer success in the years to come."

The IDC MarketScape conducts evaluations based on various aspects such as the vendor's solution capabilities, functionality, pricing model, and customer satisfaction, alongside strategic plans pertaining to innovation, partnerships, alliances, and planned product enhancements. This comprehensive analysis aims to assist IT and security decision-makers in identifying technologies and vendors that meet their specific requirements.

In its assessment, the IDC MarketScape report also highlighted that Rapid7 offers a robust amount of out-of-the-box detection content, which is critical for organisations desiring to combine proactive and reactive tooling.

The report suggested that "Organisations who want to combine their proactive and reactive tooling should evaluate Rapid7 which provides a large amount of out-of-the-box detection content. Customers can easily offload some of their TDIR to the Rapid7 managed SOC if the need arises."

This acknowledgment from IDC MarketScape positions Rapid7 favourably among SIEM solutions for SMBs, particularly for businesses seeking to navigate the complexities of modern cybersecurity landscapes efficiently and cost-effectively.
