Omada's report reveals struggles with identity governance

Today

Omada has released its annual State of Identity Governance Report for 2025, highlighting ongoing challenges for organisations in implementing effective Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) solutions.

The report underscores that 95% of IT and business leaders perceive identity security as a crucial element of their cybersecurity strategies. Despite this recognition, a significant 86% remain concerned about identity-related risks. This comes as digital transformation initiatives accelerate, necessitating robust identity security frameworks to protect against growing data breaches and the associated financial impacts.

Omada's findings are based on a comprehensive survey of over 500 leaders responsible for identity governance, access management, compliance, cybersecurity, and IT administration within large organisations. The survey also reflects a trend of increasing cybersecurity investments, with 90% of respondents acknowledging better funding for their IT security teams compared to the previous year.

Moreover, 64.4% of respondents indicated that they have procured cyber liability insurance as a safeguard against data breach costs. Despite these investments, there remains a struggle in deploying effective IGA solutions. Nearly four in ten organisations have yet to implement SaaS-based IGA solutions, a gap they acknowledge exists despite recognising the need for modernisation.

The report identifies restrictive total cost of ownership (TCO) as a major challenge, with almost 60% of respondents citing it as a deficiency in their existing IGA solutions. This issue is underscored by growing interest in AI and automation, highlighted as top criteria by more than half of the respondents when considering new IGA solutions. Generative AI capabilities, in particular, are emerging as a critical factor in their evaluations.

Michael Garrett, CEO of Omada, commented on the findings: "Digital identities are proliferating, and companies must account for this. Identity security is the key to cybersecurity, but organisations often struggle with deriving the full benefits of IGA. They are looking for modern, cloud-based solutions that can be rapidly implemented at a lower cost but without the compromise on capability. Organisations' core IGA goals remain constant: securing identity management, maintaining consistent access control over sensitive resources, and ensuring compliance - there is no compromise on this critical capability but it must be fast, agile, simple to operate and low cost of total ownership."

Omada, a global market specialist in Identity Governance and Administration (IGA), offers a full-featured, enterprise-grade, cloud-native IGA solution that enables organisations to achieve compliance, reduce risk, and maximise efficiency.
