New Relic integrates with Atlassian for innovative engineering solutions
Engineers stand to gain time for product innovation thanks to New Relic's new integration with Atlassian. This integration, a first in the field of observability, will allow engineers for better insights into incident management and resolution through New Relic's all-encompassing observability platform - the only such platform to be integrated with the incident tracking capabilities introduced by Atlassian in Jira Software.
The integration is primed to address the inevitable incidents that strike every software development team. It is often the case that production issues lack visibility and incident ownership, causing unresolved incidents and bugs that then impact user experiences, revenue, and reputation. This issue becomes more critical when incident tracking is dispersed among systems, resulting in collaboration difficulties between development and IT operations teams.
The offering from New Relic and Atlassian aims to tackle these challenges by introducing Incidents tab in Jira, which sends the incidents from New Relic and other platforms to Jira. This allows the teams to learn about the incident promptly and focus on identifying the affected services, entities, and issues. The post-incident reviews (PIRs) surfaced in Jira enable teams to assign and manage preventative work to reduce the frequency and volume of costly incidents.
New Relic's Chief Design and Strategy Officer, Peter Pezaris, said, "At New Relic, we believe in meeting engineers where they are, enabling them to do their best work with their preferred tools. We are delighted to be the first observability platform to integrate with the incidents tab in Jira. With our natively-connected solution, we hope to expand access to observability by bringing the right insights into engineers existing workflows, helping them manage their work more effectively with the best-of-breed tools they use every day."
This integration aims to offer several key benefits to development teams, including enhanced incident detection and visibility, quicker resolving of vital issues, streamlined workflows, and the establishment of proactive practices. It equips teams with real-time New Relic data to understand root causes, remediation options, and strategies to prevent recurring incidents.
Suzie Prince, Atlassian's Head of Product, DevOps, stated, "We're on a mission to bring software development and IT operations teams closer together so they can deliver consistently high-performing software to their customers. The New Relic integration automatically surfaces insights and observability data in the new Incidents tab in Jira to further improve collaboration between teams. This can help teams move quickly on active incidents and take action to prevent recurring incidents."
Building on New Relic and Atlassian's established cooperation, this latest integration serves to further improve and streamline the software development lifecycle. The Incidents tab in Jira is now available in early access.
